What makes a good wooden log store? What’s it made from? You should be looking for or building something that’s made from treated timber, with a weather-resistant finish. If it isn’t, with your wood is exposed to the elements 24/7 and won’t last ou should be looking raised off the ground Forgetting about the base of your log store is a e common oversight. Where possible a level concrete base and then elevate your log store to keep it off the ground. Airflow It should have plenty of airflow which usually means gaps or slats on the sides that allow direct airflow all the way around. I wouldn’t recomend a log store with doors as this encourages a humid environments in which mould and various insects can thrive. Angle of the roof The classic design is a slatted structure, with a forward-slopingroof that makes the store taller at the back than the front. This helps to keep out the rain and snow and if its against your property keeps away damp. Size I’d always recommend getting the largest log store possible, it’s no problem having it half full, but having logs left over when your store is full presents a problem. #garden #gardening #gardeningtips #logstore #woodstore

We purchased the wood from @savoytimber and it took us 6.5 hours to build the log store from scratch! I’d say we’re getting pretty good at building these log stores, 2 in 2 weeks! Not going to lie- I cried when I came home from work to find the log burner in the wrong place I’d shown the builders in the morning where it needed to go so they could tell the fitters when they arrived-and guess what they didn’t tell them! All was not lost though, we decided to make a log store and actually we couldn’t be happier with it. It’s great for storing logs obviously😂 but it looks good and creates interest too. We made it from mdf and cost us about £20! I have always got asked for the measurements and even though we made it to fit our space,you can definitely use some of these as a guide. I wish we took more photos (back in the day no one took videos😂) to show the process. It’s painted in the same paint as our walls -pale oak by @benjaminmooreuk and was filled, primed and sanded a little before we painted. The Eco coal is one of my favourite parts of the bundle as it’s made from olive stones and keeps the log burner heat steady for hours. I bought this log-store in the sale from @gardenchicuk And went to our local farmer and got 2 ton bags of dried oak for £80 and that will last us most of the winter!! Couldn’t come at a better time with all the energy bills going up!! No need for us to turn the heating on this winter, we’re gonna be roasting and it’s only cost £80!! Log store is from @gardenchicuk i’m currently has £70 off! FYI called Churnet Valley Heavy Duty Log Store 4 x 6ft Code: LS4X6.
