WIBeltane (or Bealtaine) is a traditional Celtic festival marking the beginning of summer, celebrated around May 1st. It’s a time of fire, fertility, growth, and the union of energies—honoring the earth as it comes fully alive.
The maypole is one of its most recognized symbols: Traditionally, the maypole is danced with ribbons, symbolizing unity, fertility, and the weaving together of life’s energies.
This is my quiet version of that ritual—
something small, handmade, and rooted in intention.
✨Here’s my mini altar version ✨
DIY maypole:
– wood base + central stick
– weave a small branch wreath
– secure with twine
– attach to the top
– add ribbons
it doesn’t have to be perfect to be sacred

Every year in May, a sweet and quirky tradition comes to life in Rheinland:
On the night of April 30th, boys secretly decorate birch trees with colorful ribbons and signs, and place them in front of the house of the girl they secretly like.
No name. No message. Just a quiet sign:
„Someone’s thinking of you.“
On the morning of May 1st, the girl wakes up to find the tree. Now she has to guess who it was.
Sometimes, multiple boys choose the same girl — and yes, fights and jealousy do happen!
Occasionally, the girl’s father watches from the window…
If he disapproves, he might even take the tree down!
And if the girl is interested — or simply wants to say thank you — there’s another part of the tradition:
At the end of the month, she usually invites the boy for a drink or dinner as a sweet gesture of appreciation.
In leap years, the roles switch:
Girls decorate trees for boys.
A beautiful mix of love, secrecy, and local culture — blossoming under the spring skies of Rheinland. 🌸

هر سال با شروع ماه می، توی راینلند یه رسم قشنگ و بامزه زنده میشه؛
پسرها شبانه، یواشکی یه درخت توس رو با روبانهای رنگی و تابلوهای تزئینی آماده میکنن و جلوی خونهی دختری که دوستش دارن میذارن.
نه اسمی، نه نشونی... فقط یه پیامِ بیصدا:
«یه نفر بهت فکر میکنه.»
صبح اول ماه می، دختر از خواب بیدار میشه و درخت رو میبینه. حالا باید حدس بزنه کار کی بوده.
گاهی چند تا پسر برای یه دختر درخت میذارن — یا حتی سرش با هم بحث میکنن!
بعضی وقتا هم پدر خانواده از پشت پنجره همهچی رو میبینه…
اگه از پسر خوشش نیاد، ممکنه درختو همون شب جمع کنه.
و اگه دختر علاقهمند باشه یا بخواد تشکر کنه، یه رسم دیگه هم هست:
آخر ماه، دختر معمولاً پسر رو به نوشیدنی یا شام دعوت میکنه — یه جور قدردانی صمیمی برای اون شب خاص.
توی سالهای کبیسه، نقشها عوض میشن:
این بار دخترا برای پسرا درخت میذارن.
یه سنت شیرین، مرموز، و پر از لحظههای قشنگ… که فقط توی بهار راینلند شکوفه میده. 🌸
