Here is some of our udder prep process for our cows. It is super important and crucial that we follow all of these steps before milking. First we start by making sure the udder is clean. Our cows live out on pasture, so we use a fresh towel that is washed every day and wipe each teat individually to remove any dirt or debris. Each quarter gets multiple wipes so we know everything is clean before milking begins. Next we strip a small amount of milk to check the flow and look for any signs of mastitis. This helps us make sure the cow is healthy and the milk looks exactly how it should. These small steps might seem simple, but they play a huge role in keeping our cows healthy and ensuring the milk we produce is clean and high quality #perennialpasturesranchsandiego #sandiegoranch #perennialpasturesranch #rawmilk

We kicked off 2026 with a massive parlor and tank room overhaul! We were able to add new stalls, new grain system, upgrade our milk line and @afimilk System and put in new flooring. Yes, some stress was involved and we did have to milk the first 10 fresh cows one at a time outside in the rain 🤣 BUT we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome. We can’t thank @cal_coast @wasnickbrosdairysupply and @laede_plastics enough for being so great to work with and pushing so hard to work within our timeline! You guys are AWESOME!! Cheers to 1,000’s of more students learning how to successfully milk a cow! 🥛🐄🥛🐄🥛
