MU❗️LONG BUT IMPORTANT UPDATE❗️
Things have been difficult lately but I’m back at it today with some sitting and watching with murphi.
He is soooo much better with vehicles passing than he was but today we upped it a notch to sitting and watching vehicles on the main road.
We sat at a medium distance away from the road so he wasn’t too close but close enough for him to see and it be considerably louder than what he is used to.
I took his settle mat and high value treats and we just sat there and he was rewarded for calm behaviour. As you can see in the first clips this is when we first arrived. He needed a lot of comfort and reassurance. After around 5 minutes had passed he started to settle more and would take treats and even lay down on his mat.
I decided to do some of the basic training he knows to help him feel more in control and he was amazing.
We finished it off with his favourite task ‘pressure’ and we left.
I haven’t added any music and I have left the volume on so you can see how loud this actually was for him and how well he did.
Next time I am going to take him his favourite natural chew and see how that goes.
Once he is more settled we are going to try sitting at a bus stop as these are the most difficult for him.
I’m also going to be working on his loose lead walking as for some reason I’m thinking it’s his age he has decided to forget everything he knows about it so those are at the top of the priority list right now.
Also forgot to mention we did trains a couple days ago in his training session and he yet again surprised me. He wasn’t keen but he is nowhere near as apprehensive as I thought he would be he did so well
