This may look strange at first... But, this simple test checks for the Spinal Galant Reflex — one of the most commonly retained primitive reflexes we see in kids with ADHD, sensory issues, and focus struggles. 👶 This reflex should go away in infancy, but if it sticks around, it can cause: ❌ Constant squirming in chairs ❌ Sensitivity to tags, clothes, or touch ❌ Bedwetting past toddler years ❌ Struggles with focus and emotional regulation When we gently stroke along the lower back and the child twitches or shifts, it’s a sign the nervous system is still reacting like it’s in survival mode. 🧠 That means the brain is using energy to manage reflexes instead of learning, focusing, and regulating emotions. 💡 But here’s the good news… You can start rewiring the brain and integrating these reflexes naturally — at home! 🎉 We just launched our brand-new Primitive Reflex Community, where you get: ✅ Step-by-step video tutorials for testing & exercises ✅ Support for ADHD, sensory processing, autism & more ✅ Discounts on all our products ✅ New trainings added every month …all for just $20/month! And the first 100 members get a surprise bonus gift 🎁 👇 Comment “JOIN” and we’ll send you the link to get started today! #PrimitiveReflexes #ADHDHelp #SpinalGalant #SensoryProcessing #NaturalHealing #BrainDevelopment #ParentTips #MomSupport #Neurodevelopment #ReflexIntegration #CommunitySupport #ParentingADHD

Did you know? When kids squeeze a ball between their knees, they activate deep core and hip stabilizers — the same ones that prevent W-sitting, flat feet, and poor posture later on. 🧠 Add in balance + eye-hand coordination like this, and you’re not just “playing” — you’re building neuromuscular pathways for better focus, body control, and confidence. ✨ Save this game if your child: ✔️ W-sits ✔️ Has flat feet or knock knees ✔️ Struggles with coordination ✔️ Has trouble focusing or fidgets a lot 👣 It’s fun. It’s screen-free. And it works. 💡 Want more proven exercises like this? Check out my “Healthy Posture and Feet” program — used by families to improve core strength, balance, and alignment at home. 📲 Link in bio to start.

This child isn’t just playing. They’re rewiring their nervous system. 🧠 The prone position on the spin board directly challenges the Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) which is a primitive reflex that, when retained, affects focus, coordination, muscle tone, and emotional regulation. Add graded vestibular movement (the spinning) + a visual perceptual task (sorting by color) + motor planning and execution (reaching, grasping, placing)… And you’ve got MULTI-SYSTEM integration happening in real time. This is how we create lasting neurological change at NeuroNest. We don’t isolate skills. We layer challenges strategically so the brain learns to integrate multiple systems under functional demand. When a retained primitive reflex is blocking development, we have to create the RIGHT neurological challenge to help it integrate. This is what neuroadaptiveTM intensive therapy looks like. 👉 COMMENT “REFLEX” to learn more about our comprehensive reflex assessments and intensive programs #primitivereflexes #reflexintegration #TLR #pediatricOT #occupationaltherapy #sensoryprocessing #vestibularprocessing #childdevelopment #neuroplasticity #intensivetherapy #neurologicaldevelopment #neurodevelopment #pediatrictherapy

This may look strange at first... But what you’re seeing is called the Starfish Exercise, and it’s not just movement — it’s a brain-based technique designed to help kids who are struggling with: ➡️ ADHD ➡️ Autism ➡️ Anxiety ➡️ Emotional outbursts ➡️ Sensory overload ➡️ Focus and learning issues 🧠 The Starfish works by targeting the Moro Reflex — one of the earliest survival reflexes babies are born with. If this reflex doesn’t go away (or “integrate”) as a child grows, it can keep the nervous system in a constant state of “fight or flight.” That means: Overreactions to sound, light, or touch Trouble calming down or sitting still Random outbursts or tantrums Sleep issues and trouble focusing ✅ The Starfish exercise mimics the startle response, then teaches the brain how to calm and reset. ✅ It helps regulate the nervous system, build better body awareness, and promote emotional stability. ✅ Just 2 minutes a day for a few weeks can make a BIG difference — especially when used consistently as part of a brain-based routine. 💡 Want to learn exactly how primitive reflexes affect your child’s brain and behavior — and what you can do at home to help? 🎁 We created a FREE Primitive Reflex Guide that explains everything and includes simple, science-backed exercises just like this one. 👇 Comment “INFO” and we’ll send it to you! Plantar Grasp Reflex✅ Babinski reflex 🚫in Infants When you gently press the sole of a newborn’s foot near the toes, watch how the toes curl inward as if trying to "grasp" your finger! 🤏✨ This primitive reflex is present at birth and typically fades by 9 to 12 months of age. Its presence reflects healthy neurological development in early infancy. ✅ ⚠️ If this reflex persists beyond 1 year, it may be a sign of delayed neurological maturation and should be evaluated further. — 🔍 Normal in infants | Abnormal if persistent after 12 months 📚 A simple but powerful clinical tool in pediatric neuro exams! — #PlantarGraspReflex #InfantReflexes #PrimitiveReflexes #Neurodevelopment #PediatricNeurology #NewbornMilestones #BabyReflexes #PhysiotherapyStudents #DevelopmentalMilestones #NeuroExam #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #ReflexTesting #PediatricPhysiotherapy

I remember thinking no screentime was going to be hard, and we’re 2.5 years in… But what I feel grateful for is that lack of screentime for the babe meant way less TV/phone/computer for me! And I have no idea what he’d be like if we did do screens but I can tell you I haven’t yet had to deal with a single meltdown after taking screens away. And that alone makes me never wanna start 😂 We’ll get there some day and o can’t wait to watch a movie together! Until then, we now have more books than shelve space and a kid that just wants to play outside. ✌🏻 And disclaimer here is that I don’t have older kids that introduce screens to the little one. I left my career to be home and play so I don’t need screens as distraction for my ability to get stuff done. I don’t go out a ton where screens can be a lifesaver for keeping chaos down in confined pibkic places. You get the gist. I made my personal choice that works for us based on a lot of the developmental data I read. And every family will be different and make choices right for them. #noscreens #optoutside🌲 #bluelight #redlight #neurodevelopment #brainhealth #toddlertantrums

These simple-looking exercises are actually brain-builders in disguise. ✨ Cross-lateral coordination – Key for reading, writing, and organized movement ✨ Core stability + limb control – Critical for posture, focus, and endurance ✨ Proprioception – The brain’s ability to “map” the body in space ✨ Bilateral integration – The foundation for tying shoes, using both hands, and even emotional regulation Neurodevelopment isn’t something we grow out of — it’s something we build from the ground up. 💛 That’s exactly what my Healthy Posture & Feet program does — it turns movement into developmental gold. If your child runs like a “drunk giraffe” 🦒💨… let’s talk about dyspraxia. Dyspraxia (also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder) affects how the brain plans and coordinates movement. Kids with dyspraxia often: • Look uncoordinated or clumsy • Struggle with tasks like buttoning shirts or tying shoes 👕 • Have poor balance or difficulty catching a ball ⚽️ 🧠 What’s happening in the brain? There are three key areas we often see involved: 1️⃣ Cerebellum → coordination & smoothness of movement 2️⃣ Motor Cortex → planning and executing actions 3️⃣ Parietal Lobe → body awareness and spatial processing ✨ Simple ways to support these areas: • Cerebellum: Try “Floppy Fish” — how smooth can your child wave their arms side to side? Or play weaving games using your arms as an obstacle. • Motor Cortex: Play Scissors–Paper–Rock ✌️✊✋ — great for planning, reaction, and sequencing. • Parietal Lobe: Do “heavy work” — gymnastics, lifting, crawling, brushing with a therapy brush, or even pushing/pulling games. When we combine activities that engage all three brain areas, coordination, focus, and motor planning can improve dramatically over time. #Dyspraxia #ChildDevelopment #OccupationalTherapy #MotorSkills #Cerebellum #Neurodevelopment #ParentTips #BrainBasedTherapy #primitivereflexes #reflexintegration

When the Moro reflex is unintegrated, a child may show symptoms like: 🌪 Overreacting to sounds, lights, or touch 😨 Heightened anxiety or startle response 😣 Difficulty with transitions or change 😵 Poor balance and coordination 😴 Sleep disturbances 😢 Emotional outbursts and poor self-regulation ✅ What Happens When Moro Reflex Gets Integrated: As the reflex gets integrated through targeted movement and therapy… 🔕 Reduced startle response – child feels safer in their environment 😌 Improved emotional control – fewer meltdowns and better mood stability 🧘 Better sensory regulation – less overwhelmed by stimul i 🎯 Improved focus and attention – especially in classroom settings 🛌 More restful sleep – calm body = calm brain 🤸 Enhanced motor control – especially posture, coordination, and balance 🧠 Why This Happens: Moro integration calms the fight or flight center of the brain, allowing the child’s nervous system to shift from survival to learning, playing, and growing. It reduces constant stress signals and helps the child feel safe and in control of their body. . . . . LIKE | SHARE | COMMENT | FOLLOW . . . 😳 “Why is my kid always on edge?” Kids ages 4-12 really benefit from this routine! If your child melts down over seemingly nothing… Struggles to calm down after big emotions… And lives like they’re stuck in fight-or-flight mode… 👉 It may not be behavioral—it might be a retained Moro reflex. This early startle reflex is meant to protect babies—but if it sticks around, the brain stays on high alert, causing: 🔺 Increased anxiety 💥 Emotional outbursts 🌀 Trouble with self-regulation 👂 Sensory overload 🚫 Difficulty focusing Here’s what I do when I suspect the Moro reflex hasn’t integrated 👇 ⸻ Step 1: Regulate first 🌀 Rhythmic movements – gentle rocking, swaying, or bouncing ➡️ These calm the nervous system through repetition and predictability. 🤲 Deep pressure – squeeze or press the legs, arms, and torso ➡️ This grounds the body and tells the brain “you’re safe now.” ⸻ Step 2: Then integrate 🍿 Popcorn – curl into a ball and then pop out like popcorn ➡️ Helps retrain the startle response through controlled movement. 🧸 Starfish Pillow Grab (aka Python Squeeze in our family) – squeeze a pillow with arms and legs from a spread-out starfish position ➡️ Mimics the Moro reflex and trains the brain to process it properly. 🧲 Gluing to the Floor – press arms and legs firmly into the floor ➡️ Builds body awareness and calms the sensory system. ⸻ 📆 Do these 5 movements daily—you’ll start to notice fewer meltdowns and more calm 💛 🎉 The Rewired Kids™ App launches late summer 2025 Created by a pediatric chiropractor + mama of 4 💪 📩 DM our team your email to join our waitlist! #RetainedReflex #MoroReflex #FightOrFlight #AnxiousKids #MeltdownSupport #NervousSystemRegulation #RewiredKids #PrimitiveReflexIntegration #ChildDevelopment #HolisticParenting #ParentingTips #EmotionalRegulation #KidsWithBigFeelings #Neurodevelopment #PediatricChiropractic #RhythmicMovement #DeepPressureInput #BodyAwareness #SensoryProcessing #BrainBodyConnection
