What’s on the mnu? @palenquekitchen in Costa Mesa, California Tucked along the side of Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa, just 2 miles from the Newport Beach Pier, Palenque by Mezcal is the second location of this restaurant chain (the other can be found in Riverside, California, just across from the historic Mission Inn). We came across this restaurant when our original dinner plans were interrupted by a road closure. We saw this on our way, and because of our detour ended up coming here instead. We were pleasantly surprised and far from disappointed. For comparison, it’s similar to @flechacantina but on a smaller scale. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly, with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. What we ordered: •PUERTO NUEVO LOBSTER QUESADILLA ~ Main lobster meat sauteed in butter, poblano peppers, onions, melted monterey cheese, tzatziki, mix greens •CAMARONES A LA DIABLA ~ Sautéed white shrimp, spicy habanero garlic butter sauce, Mexican rice, market vegetables Check it out for yourself to see what’s on the mnu!

Did you know @beardfoundation award-winning @chefmichy opened her newest spot on Ocean Drive in late 2025? Welcome to @lacanitabeach, a vibrant Cuban-Caribbean restaurant inside @casacanita, a boutique hotel in the iconic @artdecodistrict of Miami Beach. “La Cañita” means little sugarcane — but the flavors and portions here? Anything but little. This is a place where locals can be tourists in their own hometown… Think a juxtaposition of bold ocean blue banquettes with tropical kitsch wallpaper and balanced pink sand walls to give you that permanent vacation energy — and only steps from the actual beach — live music daily, an award-winning bar team, and happy hour from 3–7pm. Yesss, 4 hours daily! We kicked things off aperitivo-style with a refreshing @aperolspritzofficial, quenelle-shaped Truffle Mushroom Croquetas and poppers of Jamón Serrano & Fig Croquetas priced like it was still the year 2001. Then we moved on to their very shareable dinner menu — starting with guava ribs and bangin’ fries, because guava BBQ should’ve been in my life much sooner. Next up, arroz con pollo elevated à la plancha (de-boned) with saffron rice so creamy and dreamy it ate like risotto… also, a whole, de-boned crispy snapper, because nothing says Caribbean cuisine more than this… Of course, what’s a Cuban restaurant without a Cubano — this sandwich glistened like it had been lacquered with clarified butter. And because no Cuban meal is complete without a proper caffeine jolt — it was a cafecito for him, a café con leche for me, and a flan for us! Locals rejoice — turn on vacation mode daily at 3pm, head over to Ocean Drive, get a vino or spritz — and say less. And tourists, add this to your must-visit list for your next trip to Miami.
