THAnyone know what this is? Several of you sent me this. Excuse the text over the insect, that was written by video owner.

Seems to be a walking stick insect of some sort (Phasmatodea order), and this scorpion-mimicking behavior is crazy cool. Assuming that's its defensive tactic.
With over 3,000 different species of known stick insects in the world, I'm hoping someone else can explain.

to clarify (for anyone new!) - these insects are NOT alive, & no, I did not harm them! (nor did anyone) - all insects I preserve are from friends/individuals I’ve met in the insect hobby that hand raise lots of species, they pass naturally & are sent to me to preserve instead of possibly going in the trash!
if you have any questions abt the process, don’t hesitate to ask!

AFRescued this incredible stick insect just in time, our wild housecat Pawsey thought it was her new toy.
Does anyone know what species this might be? It was nearly the length of a ruler (body about 20Cm) and absolutely masterful at camouflage.
Stick insects (order Phasmatodea) are some of nature’s most skilled illusionists, able to sway like twigs in the breeze, regrow lost limbs, and even reproduce without mating in some cases (parthenogenesis). Some species can live for over a year and have evolved incredible defenses, from spiny legs to chemical sprays.

SEThe Madagascan swallowtail butterfly, the only one I've ever had to work on.
This was one of the rare times I part with a specimen and regret it. A truly beautiful insect, it would have looked splendid in my small personal collection. If I should ever be lucky enough to source another, you know where it will be headed.
