BO2-Week Update of My Pinecone Experiment 🌱
Two weeks ago, I started a small experiment by placing several pothos cuttings into a pinecone and keeping it constantly moist to see whether the cuttings could root directly inside the cone. The idea was to use the pinecone as a natural structure that holds moisture while still allowing airflow around the cuttings.
So far, the results are quite interesting. The pinecone absorbs and retains water well, creating a humid environment around the nodes, and the cuttings have stayed healthy without signs of rot.

ALI’m doing a little fun experiment with some plant cuttings! I put a pinecone in a small bowl, tuck the cuttings inside it, then water the whole arrangement and let it soak for a few hours. As the pinecone absorbs the water, it tightens up and locks the cuttings in place—pretty cool! 😎

NAMoss pine cones 🌲 are one of those childhood “projects” I love coming back to from time to time.
Just a little note: the pine cone should be completely dead and dry. Otherwise, in high humidity, it can start closing again or even sprout. And since moss loves humidity, that matters.
