NASA’s Artemis II mission is set to launch as early as February 6, 2026, carrying four astronauts on a 10-day journey around the Moon and back — the first crewed deep-space mission in more than half a century.

GOArtemis 2 is a crewed NASA space mission planned for early 2026 (with a launch window opening as early as February 6, 2026). It will be the first time humans have traveled beyond low-Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972, taking four astronauts on a ~10-day trip around the Moon and back to Earth.
Unlike a lunar landing mission, Artemis 2 won’t set foot on the Moon’s surface — instead, it will orbit or fly around the Moon in a “free-return” trajectory, using the Moon’s gravity to slingshot the spacecraft back toward Earth safely.
The crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
🌗Artemis 2 is a test flight with people aboard but it’s not just any test. Its purpose is to:

ALArtemis II will be the first crewed mission of the Artemis program. The mission sends astronauts around the Moon aboard Orion to validate human spaceflight systems beyond low Earth orbit, including life support, navigation, communications, and crew operations in a deep space environment.
The crew includes Reid Wiseman, mission commander with extensive ISS experience; Victor Glover, pilot and naval aviator with deep operational and EVA background; Christina Koch, mission specialist with long duration spaceflight experience; and Jeremy Hansen, mission specialist representing the Canadian Space Agency. Artemis II is about proving that crews and systems are ready for sustained lunar operations.
This mission represents the standard. It reflects the level of preparation, discipline, and technical depth required to operate where margins are thin and failure is not abstract.
My aspiration is to one day serve as an astronaut through the Army. I am not there yet. What I can control is the work. Nearly everything I invest my time in, engineering, robotics, communications, flight training, diving, systems integration, is chosen deliberately with that goal in mind. Not because selection is guaranteed, but because the commitment demands consistency regardless of outcome.
Watching Artemis II is a reminder that these opportunities are earned over years, not announced overnight. The work is slow. The path is long. The standard does not change. Neither does the effort.
