@chainreactionca I’m actually pretty caught off guard over how choked up I am right now. Chain has been there for me since I was 15 years old, when “Public Storage” was just a whispered myth I heard from my friends in passing. I’m 43 now and this is a sore reminder that even the most incredible places will one day no longer exist and will pass into legend. It’s hard to fathom who I would be without Chain. Ska shows. Punk shows. Nu Metal. Hardcore. Metalcore. Deathcore. Incredibly awful Acropolis RPM shows. A stage so low that, as an audience member, your shin bones were never the same. Nights with incredible sound. Nights with awful sound. My first beer at Chain. My first time backstage. My first time on stage. Breakups. New love. Insanely violent Curl up and Die pits. Fans and friends became bouncers and talent buyers. I forgot my own bands lyrics on this stage. I saw Yellowcard play their first West Coast show here. I parked in so many sketchy neighborhoods. My friends and I laughed, hugged, and cried here. I watched my brother’s band play two sold out reunion shows here. I shared the stage with @scott_3.3.3 @da.shorts @bntarq @kylecahill erikteeee @an_impulse_forward . My Nu Metal band played here. My Metalcore band played here. I never once pooped in the 9th circle of hell bathroom. And on. And on. Chain Reaction is a national treasure and should be preserved as a historic landmark. This sucks, but thank you x10000 for helping shape who I am today. Now I’m gonna list a small fraction of the bands I remember seeing here. You people all know me as a music lover and just to think last week I was at Carnegie Hall watching Beck and it was so amazing! Shows like this are amazing in other ways and I feel quite at home and this violent chaotic madness that is hard-core punk. Even though I’ve lived in New York for like 25+ years it still feels weird. Going to punk shows in a city that you didn’t grow up going to shows and as a kid. But slowly, this old is meeting other old dogs at the dog park. Dog dog, dog dog dog.. how many times can I say dog in a post that isn’t related to @shark_dog ?
