GLChinese aerospace firm tested a detonation ramjet engine for the first time, aiming to power aircraft capable of flying passengers from Beijing to New York in just two hours.
The Jindouyun, or JinDou400, was developed by a firm called Space Transportation, or Lingkong Tianxing Technology.
According to a Chinese online media outlet, the company reported achieving a speed of 3,106 mph (5,000 km/h), or Mach 4, at altitudes over 65,600 feet (12.4 miles).

Düşük hızlarda, kalkış ve iniş gibi, Chimera geleneksel bir turbojet motoru gibi çalışır. Daha yüksek hızlara ulaşıldığında Chimera turbojeti atlayarak ramjet moduna geçer ve hipersonik hızlarda uçuşu mümkün kılar. Chimera'nın temel özelliklerinden biri de, precooler olmasıdır. Precooler, turbojete giren havanın sıcaklığını düşürerek motor parçalarının erimesini önler ve motorun daha verimli çalışmasını sağlar. Ayrıca precooler, turbojet ve ramjet modları arasında geçişi kolaylaştırarak motorun performansını artırır. Çoğu hipersonik platform bir roket tabanlı çalışır. Ducted Ramjet (#SFDR) technology on February 03, 2026, at 1045 hrs from ITR
Chandipur, off the Odisha coast. The achievement places India among a select group of countries possessing this critical technology for long-range air-to-air missile( i.e. ASTRA MKIll)development.
All subsystems, including the nozzle-less booster, SFDR motor, and fuel flow controller, performed as expected after initial acceleration by a ground booster. System performance was confirmed through flight data captured by tracking instruments deployed along the Bay of Bengal coast. Senior scientists from DRDL, HEML, RCl, and ITR monitored the launch..
