DIY easy & versatile rectangle top ✨ I’ve been seeing so many versions of this top on my timeline lately, usually *even more* versatile, but I made a tiny tweak so I could actually move around without any wardrobe malfunctions 🤪 to make your own rectangle top, you’ll only need your bust measurement and your preferred length (mine was 45 cm // ~18 in): • cut a rectangle bust ÷ 2 (on the fold) x length 👉 if not cutting on the fold: (bust ÷ 2) x (length x 2) • cut 4 straps 65 x 5 cm (25 x 2 in) • fold each strap lengthwise, sew with ¼” seam allowance, and turn right side out • place the straps on the right side of your unfolded fabric: 2 by the center fold and 2 about 12 cm from the bottom edge (so you can move more freely) • fold the rectangle back up to cover the straps and sew with ⅜” seam allowance, leaving a ~15 cm // 6 in gap • turn right side out and close the gap the video’s pretty quick, so don’t forget to pause and screenshot the dimensions and strap positions (I literally learned you can pause a reel like 5 minutes ago 🥲) if you enjoyed this tutorial, don’t forget to save and share with your friends 💗 . . . . . . #sewing #sewinginspiration #sewistsofinstagram #sewwithme #beginnersewing #freesewingpattern #diysewing #memadewardrobe #easysewingproject #sewsewsew

I find her designs so fascinating. All details and blog post coming. This was a most relaxing sew. I made the view A which has the shirring. I haven’t done much shirring - only when I made the Patternscout Joni Blouse. I had to play around a bit to get it right. Shirring tips: 💗Hand wind the bobbin with the shirring elastic but don’t be afraid to put some tension into the elastic as you wind it. 💗Increase the stitch length. 💗I had to increase my tension a little bit but test out on a scrap piece of fabric before doing it for real. Tags: #sewingtherapyrectangle #sewingtherapypattern Sara has this on her YouTube channel where she has a fantastic sew-along. So good to watch just for general relaxation as well. Much needed.

This is one of the easiest beginner sewing projects—no PDF pattern needed. You can draft this gathered top from a rectangle and customise it with different elastic placements, halter or tie straps, bows, or adjust the length. For the rectangle width, measure your bust and multiply by 1.5 (bust x 1.5). Example: 90cm × 1.5 = 135cm. For the length, decide how long you want the top and add 6.5cm for hems. Example: 43.5cm + 6.5cm = 50cm. Cut one rectangle (135 × 50cm) and split it into two equal pieces. If you want your top to have less volume just reduce the width. I used 8mm elastic—if you use wider elastic, just adjust your casing width. Measure elastic snug on your body so it’ll hold the top up. Before stitching the elastic openings shut, try the top on to check the tension. If it’s too loose, pull some elastic out, trim it, and reattach. For straps, I cut 3cm wide strips and folded the edges in like binding. Attach one side first, try it on, then attach the other side once you’re happy with the placement. I made extra binding and stitched it at the centre to create a mock bow. Parfait si tu débutes ou si t’as jamais vraiment cousu Comme d’habitude, le patron est gratuit et adapté à toutes les tailles, il suffit juste d’ajuster avec tes mesures ✨ Si tu veux le réaliser dans un tissu non stretch, pense bien à vérifier que ta tête passe et à ajouter quelques centimètres en largeur 🫶🏼 Ce top est hyper modulable : tu peux le porter épaules droites, avec une seule épaule ou les deux sur le côté Et pareil pour les bandes à nouer, devant ou dans le dos selon le rendu que tu veux C’est vraiment le genre de vêtement facile à coudre, rapide (moins d’une heure) et parfait pour se créer un dressing fait main sans prise de tête Les valeurs de couture sont déjà comprises dans le patron Si tu veux apprendre la couture facilement, créer tes vêtements sur mesure et te faire un dressing Pinterest avec des patrons simples, c’est exactement ce que je propose ici chaque semaine 🫶🏼 Dis-moi : la semaine prochaine tu préfères que je parte sur une jupe ou il fait encore trop froid pour ça ? 👀 #couture #tutocouture #couturedebutant #patrongratuit #tutocouturefacile
