GET THE ESSENTIALS : A white card and a high risk work licence are non-negotiable. Without them, job applications won’t go far.
COMPLETE SAFETY TRAINING : Worksites have strict safety and compliance regulations to meet, courses like Confined Space Entry, Operate a Breathing Apparatus / Gas Test Atmospheres and Working Safely at Heights are a must. You will see these tickets as a requirement for most FIFO roles.
GET ACCREDITED TRAINING: Getting your Dogging and Rigging tickets. To become a Rigger, a Dogging (DG) ticket is the first step. Dogging is a prerequisite for Rigging Basic (RB) and it allows workers to safely know how to manage loads and direct crane operators. Once you’ve got your Dogging first, you can move up to Rigging Basic and expand your skill set.
GAIN REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE : It’s expected before you go on site that you are trained, but also that you know what you’re doing. That’s why gaining hands on experience in a workplace as well as accredited training can be that extra boost you need to land the job you want.
APPLY FOR FIFO ROLES : With the right certifications and practical experience, it’s time to start applying for FIFO rigging jobs with genuine confidence.
