SHSituations like this are exactly why I invested in a body camera and record when I’m in places like Walmart.
About a year ago I was simply walking toward the book section when a dog from the next aisle over started lunging at us down the middle walkway. There were product shelves splitting the aisle, which is the only reason the dog couldn’t physically reach us. It came within inches. Inches. And after his dog went absolutely ballistic at my working service dog, the man had the audacity to ask if his dog could “say hi.”
Absolutely not. Not in a million years.
Your reactive pet should not be in a non-pet-friendly store. Walmart is not pet friendly due to corporate policy and FDA health codes. Beyond policy, bringing an unstable dog into a store puts other patrons and legitimate service animals at risk. It is mind-blowing to me that someone could watch their dog lunge at a working service dog and then think an introduction is appropriate.
Thankfully, security witnessed the entire situation and removed him immediately. But the bigger issue remains: pets do not belong in non-pet-friendly establishments. They can cause real harm, real setbacks, and real danger.
Please keep your pets at home.

It’s one of the most common questions we get and here’s a real example of how simple the answer can be.
We were at Penn Station taking the accessible elevator. A woman inside let us know she was allergic to dogs so instead of stepping in we waited. She thanked us went down and we carried on. No conflict no tension just mutual respect and accommodation.
This is how you handle it.
Allergies and service dogs can coexist.
Sometimes it is as easy as pausing for one elevator cycle.
Service dog teams are not trying to cause problems. We just want to get where we are going like everyone else. A little communication and kindness goes a long way.

MAMy girls have been doing EVERYTHING for me while I have been in the hospital. This entire experience has been both physically and mentally very tough for my daughters.

KEKona gave us a 20 minute heads up her blood sugar was dropping. Technology confirmed it was moving FAST. We treated it and confirmed with a finger poke.
