Why I stopped trying to visit every country in the world 🌎 For those who may be new here—hi! I’m Lora. I’ve spent the better part of the last decade traveling to over 75 countries. At first, my mission was to tick off every destination from my list. But as time went on, my goals and mindset shifted. I discovered the joy of returning to places I love, embracing the art of slow travel, and the comfort of having a home base (and dog). Honestly, since I stopped counting countries, the pressure to ‘see it all’ lifted, making my travels much more enjoyable. There are still many adventures on my bucket list —gorilla tracking in Uganda, diving in Palau, and experiencing the Arctic circle to name a few. But now, I take opportunities to explore as they come rather than forcing them, balancing my mental health, running a (currently very volatile) online business, and nurturing my community. Maybe someday I’ll reach all corners of the earth, but for now, I am content with where I am and the pace at which I’m going. Tell me about you! Have you ever wondered why you haven't heard much about this Italian city? 🇮🇹 Me too, because what a place it is!🌞 📌SAVE because you do not want to miss out! Before I took my trip to Bergamo, I only knew about it because of the airport 🛫 With most tourists, including myself, just leaving the airport and heading straight to Milan! ✨️ However, in the last few years, I've really been enjoying more hidden gems 💎 Finding somewhere not full of tourists... While it’s always important to stay vigilant, here are some top safety tips to keep you safe 🫶🏻 1. Research your destination in advance and check if there’s any key areas to avoid 2. Try to dress appropriately for the culture and environment you will be in (this is even important in terms of respecting the customs of the county you are visiting!) 3. Don’t wear expensive looking jewellery, especially while walking alone at night 4. Trust your instincts. If something feels off, don’t hesitate to remove yourself from the situation. 5. Stay connected with family and friends back home. Let them know your travel plans and check in regularly. 6. Avoid sharing too much personal information with strangers, especially your accommodation details and travel plans. 7. Keep copies of important documents like your passport and travel insurance 8. Keep emergency contacts programmed on your phone, including local authorities, embassy and emergency services. 9. Avoid walking alone at night, especially in isolated areas. The Lake Shrine feels secluded despite being within a half-mile from Pacific Coast Highway and situated on Sunset Boulevard. It’s a beautiful place to visit if you’re looking for some tranquility. It was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda as a place for solitary worship, prayer, and meditation. Things to know before you go: 1. Entrance is free, but advance reservation is required 2. Open on Wednesdays through Sundays from 10am to 4pm 3. Time slots open Saturdays at 10am for the week ahead.
