We have always concentrated on producing a functional, balanced, all purpose beef animal. One that is thick and moderate framed, not too big or too small, and that has a natural fleshing ability. If a cow has feed, we expect her to stay fat while raising a 700 lb. calf without creep. We believe in a balance between performance, eye appeal, and maternal traits. Above all, we have eliminated the problem cattle. Why did we choose the Black Angus breed for our beef cattle? For us, the choice was simple. We’re not limited at all by water or grass, and we don’t care how big our animals get. It’s all about MARBLING with us. That’s what helps determine the grade of the finished product. Most cattle producers choose to cross an easy-marbling breed like Angus or Hereford with a larger-framed breed such as Simmental or Brahman. This has a huge advantage in most markets, where the goal is to produce as much beef as possible, but for us, selling directly to you, the customer, by the steak, we’re not interested in growing beef quicker, especially at the expense of any marbling. As with any animal breeds crossed, you get traits from both sides, but also less concentration of each trait. With the beef that we produce at ARB, perfection is our goal, and we’re in no rush. We’ve chosen to wait longer for our cattle to reach full potential but for that potential to be the very best beef imaginable.
