IAWalking through Veterans Memorial Park this morning and thinking about family, war, and what gets passed down through generations.
My father lost his brother in World War II, and that single loss shaped the rest of his life — and ours. I’m not making excuses for harmful behavior, but I do believe we don’t talk enough about how trauma and unprocessed grief show up long after the war ends. Everyone is carrying something, even when we can’t see it. That awareness has changed how I respond to people and reminded me how much community matters in trying times.
