EC📚 Read Across America — but make it supportive for gestalt language processors.
Not all books support language the same way.
📌 SAVE this for your classroom library planning.�📤 SHARE with a teacher, SLP, or parent who needs book ideas this week.
If you’re reading with a child who uses echolalia, sings scripts, or uses in rich intonation whether intelligible or not… here’s what to look for:
✨ Wordless books — so you can model language that fits their moment.�✨ Character dialogue books — especially ones that use language from a joint perspective or the child’s perspective �✨ Easily mitigatable phrases that can echo now… and trim down or mix and match later.
✨ And for a child in Stage 1 of gestalt language development (using primarily delayed echolalia) whole phrases used redundantly in meaningful moments.
Language doesn’t grow from pressure.�It grows from connection, shared joy, and meaningful experiences.
That’s exactly why Echo and Grow Stage 1 books were written — characters speaking directly to the child, joint perspective language, and one clear communicative function per book. It’s a gentle offering of language that should it resonate with YOUR child it might support them in their “everyday adventure” at home or at school.
