3 METHODS! READ FOR MORE ❤️👇🏼👇🏼 1. Whipped Back Stitch: 🧵Back Stitch Base: Start by creating a simple back stitch along the line where you want your stem. 🧵Whipping the Stitches: Once the back stitch base is complete, bring your needle up at the start of the line and, without piercing the fabric, thread it under each back stitch, spiraling around them. This gives the appearance of a twisted rope. 🧵Stem Stitch: • Starting the Stitch: Bring your needle up through the fabric at the starting point (A). Make a small stitch by bringing the needle down a short distance away (B) and then bring it up again midway between A and B and repeat the process as shown. This creates a slightly slanted line that mimics the look of a natural stem. 🧵Couch Stitch: • Laying the Foundation Thread: Start by laying a length of thread along the line where you want the stem. This will be your foundation thread. • Securing the Foundation: Using a different thread or same colour make small stitches over the foundation thread at regular intervals to secure it to the fabric. Bring your needle up through the fabric on one side of the foundation thread, go over the thread, and then bring the needle down on the other side, creating a small stitch that holds the foundation in place. These methods each create a distinct look, allowing for creative variety in your embroidery projects. How to do a split stitch ✨ — Learn basic embroidery stitches 6/20. 🧵🪡 1. Bring the needle up through the fabric at your starting point. 2. Make your first stitch by inserting the needle back down a short distance away (about 3–5 mm), forming a straight stitch. 3. Now split the stitch: Bring the needle up again through the center of the stitch you just made. Pierce the thread itself—not beside it—so the needle comes up through the middle of the strand. 4. Pull the thread through gently until the stitch lies flat against the fabric. 5. Repeat the process: Insert the needle forward to make another short stitch, then bring it up through the center of that new stitch. 6. Continue stitching along your desired line, keeping your stitch length consistent and your tension even. [Read more below] How to fill with split stitch ✨ Hi friends! I’ve been asked a few times how I fill my pieces and, while I do like to try different stitching and fill techniques, one of my go to fill stitches is split stitch! I feel like the result is a smooth, flat fill without those ridges that you sometimes get with filling larger areas. Below are some of the tips I mention in the video: 1️⃣ I like to start by making guidelines for the space I’m going to fill. This does a few things: it makes sure that my stitches are straight, it helps to not overcrowd the stitches, and I personally feel like it makes filling go faster. You can either eyeball the lines or, for larger spaces, I’ll use a heat erasable pen and a piece of paper/something with a straight edge to draw the lines. 2️⃣ Switch directions as you fill. Go from left to right and then right to left when filling. This will make it so the stitches going into the fabric aren’t all going in the same direction, which helps to avoid that wavy, uneven texture at the end. 3️⃣ Make sure your thread is flat/a little unwound. I like to fill with one strand of DMC floss, and, if you look closely at each piece, it is strands of thread wound around each other. To get a flat fill, I like to make sure the floss isn’t too tightly wound, or will even unwind it a little bit. 4️⃣ Window your stitches. If you’ve ever taken a dance or group workout class, this term may be familiar to you. If not, just google “window formation”. The idea is to make sure the stitches going into your fabric don’t all line up, but instead are in between the holes on the line adjacent to the line you’re stitching. This, again, helps to prevent that wavy texture you get from all the stitches lining up. If anyone has questions on other processes, like choosing colors, other fill techniques, etc., let me know in the comments! I’d love to make more videos like this but want to know what y’all want to see! 💜 Handmade embroidery by me Character design by Gege Akutami . . . . . . . #jujutsukaisen #jjk #jujutsukaisenfanart #jjkfanart #yutaokkotsu #embroidery #animeembroidery #mangaembroidery #embroiderersofinstagram #tutorial #howto

Outline/Stem Stitch tutorial! Save this so you can refer back to it later 🪡 These two stitches (as far as my understanding goes 😅) are used pretty interchangeably. The most important thing is to be consistent with which “side” of the thread you hold out each time. Follow along for more stitch tutorials! Next up I’ll be sharing chain stitch! Fly stitch tutorial 🫶🏻 A fly stitch is a basic surface embroidery stitch that you can work singly, as a scattered filling, or in rows. You can also work it with some variations, making it useful for stitching different types of lines with cleaner and fewer stitches. Each fly stitch is composed of two stitches—a horizontal long stitch, which becomes a V, and a vertical tacking stitch. Should I upload more videos like this?
