We get so obsessed with how many inches we are from the floor, but the real “halfway” point is actually a mechanical shift in your body. If you’ve built strong external rotators, you’ve already solved the biggest problem: clearing the hip socket so you don’t feel that “bone-on-bone” pinch. Pair that with flexible adductors and the ability to move through both internal and external rotation, and you’ve basically given your hips a green light to move freely. The real tell, though, is your strength in lengthened positions. If you can control a deep Cossack squat, you’re proving to your nervous system that you’re actually safe at your limit. If you have the rotation, the mobility, and the active strength, you’ve done the hard work of rewiring your hips.
