SOI think many people would be surprised that most supermarket breads are industrially produced and classified as an ultra processed food. In fact supermarket bread like sliced pan is the most commonly eaten ultra-processed food in the UK and Ireland, making up 11% of UPF intake!
This is not surprising really when sliced bread is such a handy staple to use every day for sandwiches etc. But this is why I love pitta bread as an alternative!
Compared to your typical sliced pan, it has a much simpler ingredient list with way fewer additives, and is a more minimally processed bread.
