Lately, I’ve been sitting with the weight of my own privilege. It’s strange…I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am, and I’m proud of everything I’ve built. But there’s this guilt. Like… who am I to have all this? To be recognized, celebrated, and given opportunities that my parents could only dream of? They sacrificed more than I’ll ever fully understand. My community supported me in ways I’m only now seeing. And part of me wonders if it’s okay to enjoy what I’ve have when so many others haven’t had the same chance. But I’ve been trying to reframe that guilt. Instead of letting it eat away at me, I want it to keep me grounded. I want it to remind me of why I do what I do. If I have privilege, I want to wield it responsibly and make it easier for the next student to succeed. If I’ve reached a place of influence, I want to honor those who got me here.
