One of the biggest advantages of Adriana’s physique is how quickly she can change But this also comes as a disadvantage at times So management my end and hers is essential in these later stages Things that most would consider “overthinking” or even OCD to some degree is what makes the difference in these moments There’s been multiple times I have been frustrated with the stage look not mirroring what we see on the lead up of the peak Not via any manipulations made, but more so by an accumulation of other variables that just come with a show day , travel, pressure etc And the more extreme the condition or look The harder it is to “hold” these features as such This was the week we controlled EVERYTHING and more than that, we never once adopted the mindset that “the work was done” until the moment she stepped off that stage with the card

It’s certainly been a while since I gave you an update on Blondie. I’ll start with why there has been such a long gap in updates. A while ago now I learnt that Blondie is a carrier of the genetic code for PSSM 2 variates px and p8 heterozygous (only one parental side). This isn’t a diagnosis (muscle biopsy is currently the only veterinary approved diagnosis) but as she shows clear symptoms of PSSM 2, muscle tension, fearful behaviour, discomfort I am treating her as though I have had a “diagnosis”, so over the last month or so we have been making some changes to her diet and supplements to help her start to feel better. When I first learnt about her genetics one thing I knew was that I knew nothing. I had heard a few stories of PSSM horses but I really didn’t know where to start. So I asked for help, I reached out on here and a friend who has a lot of experience and is a vet agreed to answer my questions on a call (of which there where many). An hour and a half later I had some info, a bit more confidence and some papers to read so I set about making a plan. . I will film a YouTube video but for now, things are getting better, she still has a really big season but the difference is she doesn’t lose trust in us every time. I have felt she has been looking at me intrigued when I tack up other horses in the barn and she comes over when we are in the arena to watch so I just wanted to test the water and see how she felt. Gentle exercise is a big part of pssm so I have been keen to start gradually and see how she feels. today she sniffed the bridle, and then proceeded to push her nose down and onto the bit. She had some worried moments in the arena and I could see her face change at certain moments but she would then take a blow out and the moment would pass. She had a soft stride and even offered some little trots ❤️ she looked really relaxed after and wondered happily to the field as if she felt more part of the team. She was so happy when she came back in from the field too I was worried she would have changed her mind but came right up to me very smiley, and then let me pick all of her feet out in her stable…loose 🥳. Today was a great day to be a Blondie 🥰

They’re basically just guessing But it’s not the technology’s fault Right now, the BEST these devices can do is plug in a few things they can track: * heart rate * age * gender * weight * workout type …and run an equation to spit out a number But here’s where it falls apart: 
They can’t factor in your hormones, genetics, how much you slept last night… plus about 100 other variables that all change how many calories you really burn Until your watch can run genome testing and blood work, it’ll never be “accurate” The good news though, is that doesn’t matter Because the calories burned during your workout make up less than 5% of what you burn in a week Which means tweaking your intake based on yesterday’s workout is a complete waste of time Instead, look at the bigger picture: track your intake, watch how your scale trends over time, and adjust from there Study mentioned in reel: PMID: 28538708 #fitness #gym #workout
