Save for when you need a main street to stroll ✨️ These cute Connecticut towns feel like you stepped onto a Hallmark movie set or you're about to run into a Gilmore 😍 We haven't been everywhere, but these are some of our faves: 📍 Litchfield - beautiful town green + rich history (America's first law school) 📍 Essex - on the Connecticut River 📍 Old Wethersfield - long main street to stroll (literally a Hallmark set) 📍 New Milford - cutest town green ever! Honest confession: I was a skeptic 🫣 I thought I would never want to live in CT. And if you've only ever driven through Connecticut (and been annoyed at the traffic 😬), there's a lot in this state that might surprise you! As we've explored over the 5 years since we moved here, these are some of the spots that changed my mind about what Connecticut was like (and the places I love to take friends + family who visit!): 📍 Cute town greens Some of my favorites are Litchfield, New Milford (top!), Guilford, and Branford. 📍 Litchfield County (AKA Litchfield Hills) This is the northwest corner of CT and has SO many great little towns, hikes, and beautiful roads. 🥾 Our favorite fall hike is at Macricostas Preserve (@steeprockassociation). ✨ Bonus: Litchfield Hills is Gilmore Girls country—don't be surprised if you come across a town event that's straight out of Stars Hollow. I'm not kidding. 📍 Yale and Pizza in New Haven I was initially underwhelmed by the recommendation to visit Yale. And then I finally went! The old campus is incredibly beautiful, and there are some free museums. It's a favorite in all seasons. Possibly our TOP pick and always a recommendation for people visiting is New Haven style pizza! 🍕 We did a pizza crawl with Rich's family to taste test the pizza trinity side-by-side: Sally's, Frank Pepe, and Modern. (@sallysapizza ftw!) 📍 Get out on the water From rivers to lakes to the Long Island Sound, I'm a firm believer that getting out onto the water brings a different + special perspective of this state now known as Connecticut. In fact, the name "Connecticut" comes from an Algonquian meaning land on the long tidal river. Some of my faves: 🌊 Paddleboarding on the Long Island Sound with @scootandpaddle 🌊 Boat ride up the Connecticut River with @essexsteamtrain (and riverboat) 🌊 Ferry across the river to Gillette Castle 🌊 Thimble Islands cruise ___________________ ➡️ Let us be your guide to CT adventures - follow for more!
