Take a finger, touch ya chin, slide down the neck until you feel a V-shape in the throat. That’s the larynx. That’s the voice box. Where the vocal cords are living.
Now I want you to swallow. What happens to your voice box? I bet it shot up the neck. We don’t want too much of that when we sing.
So, let’s deploy a little bit of a yogi bear “hey boo boo” quality.
This lowers our larynx, creates some space, and reduces the squeeze.
We can do this on an exercise like the “bwee bwee bwee.” And once we feel comfortable with this position, we can replace the “bwees” with the words.
