CI2e = Twice Exceptional is when a person is gifted + has a learning disorder. Being 2e can often feel like the brain has opposing needs/goals. But with the right support, the two can be aligned and when that happens it feels AWESOME.

EDThere was a few videos I saw swirling around that had inaccurate information about giftedness, so I thought I’d make this video to clarify! ✅
For a little context, the videos were saying that being gifted is very rare and that it would be impossible for so many people in the comment section to be claiming they or their children were gifted. They said that people just want to “feel special” and almost no one is actually gifted. 🤓 sTaTisTicAllY SpEAkiNg 🤓 even something that’s occurring in ~2% of the population would still be quite a large amount of people considering social media is full of millions or billions of people 😆 not to mention content is disproportionately served to those who are interested in/ have experience with giftedness
That being said, I think it’s better to think of the gifted label in schools as “they are eligible for gifted services based on their profile” and not seeing it as a diagnostic label “they are gifted”. Agree? Disagree? Let me know!
Since giftedness is NOT part of special education in CA, I’m definitely not the authority on it- so school psychs from states that do test for this, I would ❤️LOVE❤️ for you to chime in ⬇️

SATwice exceptional kids are often labeled as “High functioning”. They can be gifted and also struggling at the same time.
Brilliant ideas.
Deep questions.
Big imagination.
And executive functioning that crashes.
2e brains are uneven.
That unevenness can look confusing.
They’re not lazy.
They’re overwhelmed.
When we understand 2e, we stop shaming and start scaffolding.

women do seem to be genetically predisposed to live longer (although that hasn’t been my experience), and the longest recorded lifespan in the Guinness Book of World Records belongs to a woman.
