TEOn March 14, 2012, the Dutch television program *Man Bijt Hond* aired a viral segment featuring Huug Bosse, an elderly man from the Netherlands who was left completely unable to stop laughing after waking up from general anesthesia following a hip replacement surgery in 2010. During the broadcast, his wife, Nolda, expressed profound frustration over her husband’s constant giggling, explaining that his condition made it impossible to have serious conversations and even caused estrangement from their own family members who found the relentless laughter too irritating to endure.
Medical experts attribute this bizarre and unyielding laughter to a neurological condition known as pseudobulbar affect (PBA), a disorder characterized by sudden, uncontrollable outbursts of laughing or crying that do not match the patient’s actual emotional state.
