OBI won’t lie, as much as I love Busta Rhymes and many songs from him, I’ve always been mixed on his full albums. So much so that I haven’t even really revisited a full album in a while. So with the 30th anniversary of his debut album The Coming, I knew it was time for me to step back into an album!

Starting with a side note, I miss when albums were a full hour long and still had less than 15 tracks. I love full length songs. But also I don’t particularly need a nearly 5 minute chaotic intro that splits multiple times. That’s the type of intro that takes me out of things early. Luckily the course was corrected as Do My Thing starts and Busta Rhymes gets going. Everything Remains Raw is great but Abandon Ship was the first track I was mixed on. Rampage The Last Boy Scout is decent but next to Busta doesn’t stand out enough, and I thought that beat was just alright. But of course Woo Ha!! Got You All In Check goes off, maybe one of the lowest tier songs for me as far as Busta’s biggest tracks, but still great.

There’s some songs I like less than others on here but for the most part there’s a high level of quality here that is consultant from start to finish. Some of my favorite songs here are Everything Remains Raw, It’s A Party, Hot Fudge, Flipmode Squad Meets Def Squad & The Finish Line. But it’s an album I can press play and let run without worry at the end of the day.

I went into this with no expectations but was slightly worried. I didn’t want to hate on a Busta Rhymes album. Thankfully I didn’t have to, Busta delivered on this album and made for a great debut to his solo career!
