This technique, known as “Dark Deco,” gave the show its signature moody, timeless noir aesthetic that distinguished it from every other cartoon of the era. Mark Hamill was not the original choice for the Joker. He was only brought in to audition after the initial actor, Tim Curry, had already recorded several episodes. Hamill’s performance was so transformative that he became the definitive voice of the character for decades to come. The character of Harley Quinn did not exist in the comic books before this show. Created specifically for the episode “Joker’s Favor” as a one-off sidekick, she became so popular with fans that DC Comics eventually integrated her into the main Batman universe.

Batman drops his ice cream and the way he immediately looks at Superman like "fix this" is incredible. Superman's not having it - "I can only reverse time for emergencies" - and Batman just hits him with the most desperate "Superman please" like his entire day is ruined. The fact that Batman even thought to ask Superman to REVERSE TIME for a dropped ice cream cone is hilarious. That's not just dramatic, that's next-level commitment to not accepting minor inconveniences. Most people would just be like "damn, that sucks" and move on. Batman's out here ready to manipulate the space-time continuum over dairy. And Superman's response is perfect. He's not even mad, just tired. Like this isn't the first time Batman's asked him to use god-tier powers for something completely ridiculous. The "emergencies only" line hits because you KNOW Batman's about to argue that this absolutely qualifies as an emergency. Sometimes the smallest problems deserve the most dramatic solutions. At least in Batman's mind.
