Daarna door naar de wereld van Piet Hein Eek, vol eigenzinnig design en ambacht. Na de expo SHOW NOT SHOW bezochten we Kiki & Joost, waar kleur, vorm en verbeelding samen een poëtisch geheel vormen. Using the new Series 6 Air Fryer from @boschhomeuk — it cooks up to 65% faster and uses 70% less energy, so I can eat cake guilt-free 🍰 Playful painted designs, gooey brownies, and a Victoria sponge that actually rose to the occasion… I’m honestly obsessed with how this turned out. Visiting Dutch Design Week—or design weeks in general—is often an encounter with finished results. Designers present works they feel are ready for public viewing. Even when showcasing a process, it’s typically a carefully curated version of reality. This is why we were pleased to talk with Sheyang Li (@_sheyang_ ) and Teo Rhe (@teo.rhe ). The young designers showed their works at the “In Search Of” exhibition (check our previous reel) and generously shared not only their process but also the manufacturing journey behind their work. Together, under the name @bureau.parso, they produced a series of aluminum-cast furniture pieces, each created through an intense, multi-layered production process. Notice: This year, we were invited by Dutch Design Week to participate in their Creative Voices program, which encourages journalists and content creators to provide critical perspectives on Dutch Design Week and the design discipline itself. As part of this program, we receive a financial allowance for our time and reporting at DDW. Additionally, DDW has covered some of our hotel costs and invited us to a few dinner events. Our decision to join this program was driven by the rare opportunity it offers: the freedom to report on the event while maintaining our independent viewpoint and critical stance. We want to emphasize that all posts about DDW reflect our own opinions and perspectives and have not been edited by the DDW team. To sum it up: We are compensated for our work but remain critical.
