Your routine should always be tailored to what your skin actually needs. 2.Use a Gentle Cleanser Cleanse morning and night to remove dirt, oil, sunscreen, and makeup without stripping your skin barrier. 3.Apply Products From Thinnest to Thickest Start with watery products like toners and essences, then serums, and finish with heavier creams or oils so everything absorbs properly. 4.Use Active Ingredients Strategically Ingredients like vitamin C, retinol, or exfoliating acids should be used intentionally and not all at once to avoid irritation. 5.Apply Hydrating Ingredients to Damp Skin Humectants like hyaluronic acid work best when your skin is slightly damp so they can draw moisture into the skin. 6.Moisturize to Lock Everything In Moisturizer helps seal hydration and supports your skin barrier so treatments can work more effectively. 7.Never Skip Sunscreen Daily SPF protects against premature aging, pigmentation, and damage caused by UV exposure. 8.Don’t Over-Exfoliate Exfoliating too often can damage your skin barrier. Achieving a clear, radiant complexion isn’t about the most expensive serum, it’s about the science of consistency. Ask yourself these 6 questions before you buy another product: Do you wear SPF daily? (Even when it’s cloudy! UV damage stalls healing). Do you double cleanse? (The first wash removes makeup/oil; the second actually cleans the skin). Do you use skin barrier repair products? (A damaged barrier = more breakouts and redness). Do you exfoliate ONLY 1-2 times a week? (Over-exfoliating is the #1 cause of “shiny but bumpy” skin). Do you clean your makeup brushes weekly? (Old bacteria is a recipe for cystic acne). Are you consistent for 8–12 weeks? (Your skin cycle takes time; there are no overnight miracles). If you answered “no” to even one of these, that is exactly where your glass skin journey begins. Save this 🤍 12 things I stopped doing to my skin: 1. Exfoliate every single day.�Over-exfoliating can leave skin red, irritated, and angry. At this age, I care a lot more about keeping my barrier healthy. 2. Go outside without sunscreen — even on cloudy days.�Nope. If I’m serious about healthy skin, SPF is non-negotiable. Sun damage does not care if it’s overcast or cold. 3. Skip moisturizer.�Dehydrated skin tends to look duller, flatter, and more textured. Moisturizer helps support the barrier and gives skin that healthy look. 4. Go to bed with makeup on.�I would rather sleep in jeans. Leaving makeup, sunscreen, oil, and grime on overnight is just asking for congestion and irritation. 5. Use tretinoin or retinol with a bunch of other actives.�I’m not trying to win the skincare Olympics. Too many strong actives at once is a fast track to irritation and a damaged barrier. 6. Skip my nightly double cleanse.�If I’ve been wearing sunscreen or makeup, one cleanse is not enough. Double cleansing helps fully remove the day. 7. Dry my face with the same towel I dry my body with.�My face is more sensitive now, and I’m not rubbing it with a towel that’s been everywhere else. 👀 8. Pick or touch my face all day.�That’s an easy way to make irritation, inflammation, and breakouts worse. 9. Use skincare with coconut oil derivatives.�My skin has made it very clear this is not a good idea. Anything in the coconut family irritates the heck out of my skin. 10. Wash my face with scalding hot water.�Hot water can strip the skin, increase redness, and make dryness worse. Lukewarm water does the job just fine. 11. Get extractions or use scraping tools for blackheads.�For me, this usually leads to broken capillaries, which I’m already prone to. 12. Use makeup wipes.�They smear everything around, tug on the skin, and never make my face feel properly clean. Let’s compare notes. What are your skin rules?
