This method uses motion sensor rechargeable led light strips!!!! They shut off automatically as well! Mine are hardwired, however with the rechargeable strips, you can achieve the same look in your rental or areas in your home you’re not willing to hardwire. COTrying this new feature with instagram. This week I shared a series on pendant lighting over your kitchen island. With so many options I thought I would share some of my tips I used for when we hung our pendant lighting. It’s shared in the reels linked.
My ceilings are over 10 ft high. So if yours are 8ft high this is what I would use as a guideline.
Height above island
Pendant lights should hang 30–34 inches above the countertop when ceilings are 8 ft tall.
This keeps them:
• high enough to see across the kitchen
• low enough to feel warm and intentional
Leave about 28–32 inches between the center of each pendant.
This keeps them balanced and prevents the island from looking crowded.
A simple designer rule:
Island width ÷ 4 = ideal pendant diameter
Example:
If your island is 36 inches wide, pendants around 9 inches wide work well.
Keep pendants about 12–15 inches in from the edge of the island so they feel centered and balanced.
Remember the style too so it fits the aesthetics of your kitchen. This is especially important if your kitchen is open concept to other spaces.
Save this for when you are looking to add pendants or your next kitchen renovation
