LAND BACK is NOT about kicking out everyday people whose ancestors immigrated to this continent back to their homelands. Our culture, our food, safety and future all come from the land. Land back recognizes our deeply rooted connection to the Earth and all living creatures. We moved freely long before states existed. Borders criminalize our movement and survival. Raids cause fear that keeps labor cheap. Fear clears our communities without firing a single shot. Our current food comes from exploited land and exploited people. LAND BACK means food sovereignty and dignity. Our Indigenous food systems are sustainable and local, that’s the future of our health. WE ARE STILL HERE. Myron Dewey @DigitalSmokeSignals told me all about the Doctrine of Discovery and let me ride along as he documented the pipeline with his drone. It was the Black Snake. Ladonna Brave Bull told me of the #mancamps, #MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), #Landback, why this whole continent is named #TurtleIsland, and where-ever you walk, #YouAreOnNativeLand. 🪶 Traditional history books sugar-coat; especially since this year much history is being erased - it would be good to go to your local bookstore and pick it up: #APeoplesHistoryOfTheUnitedStates by Howard Zinn. 🙏🏽 I am eternally grateful for my #Indigenous sisters and brothers for continuously educating me.
