ST1️⃣ UNDERSTAND THE EXAM
• UPSC has 3 stages:
Prelims: Objective (MCQS)
Mains: Written answers
Interview: Personality test
You must clear all 3 one by one.
2️⃣ KNOW THE SYLLABUS
• Main subjects:
History
Geography
Polity (Constitution)
Economy
Environment
Science & Current Affairs
CSAT (Maths, English(Reading comprehension), Reasoning)
3️⃣ START WITH NCERT BOOKS
Make your base strong first.
Read Class 6-12 NCERTs for History, Geography, Polity, Economy, and Science.
• Take 3-4 months and make short notes.
4️⃣ MOVE TO STANDARD BOOKS
After NCERTs, study these:
Polity → Laxmikant
History → Spectrum
Geography → GC Leong
Economy → Mrunal Notes
Environment → Shankar IAS/pmf IAS
One book per subject is enough.
5️⃣ READ NEWSPAPER DAILY
Read The Hindu or Indian Express
(45 mins-1 hour).
Focus on:
Government schemes
Economy
Polity
Environment
Editorials for Essay & Mains
6️⃣ PRACTICE & REVISE
Write short answers daily (after 3-4 months).
Start giving mock tests (after 6 months).
Revise your notes again and again that’s the key.
7️⃣ STAY CONSISTENT & MOTIVATED
Study every day, even 2-3 hours is fine in the start.
Take small breaks and care for your health.
