ENThey say it takes about 1,000 books to make a library. How are you going? Do you qualify as a librarian yet?
I’m always curious how everyone counts their shelves. Physical books only? Or do audiobooks and ebooks count too?
Either way, I think most of us book lovers are well on our way.
I think I qualify with just my physical collection between my rainbow shelves, classics, sprayed edges and hard covers. I do have other bookshelves in the study but they are work books, not very pretty and would be boring to people outside my industry.

♡ WE FINALLY DID IT!
♡ Y’all, I can’t believe it, but I finally have my dream bookshelves! “I love them” doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel!
♡ This was a labor of LOVE that took a LONG time. Generally, it takes me a while to complete big projects like this, because I take my time planning and analyzing (aka over-analyzing) and perfecting before implementing. And I have never been more comfortable with my slow pace than I am here.
♡ After shipping woes, my husband and I drove nearly three hours (in a somewhat questionable rental van) to get the shelves. Then we painstakingly hauled them piece by piece to the top floor of our home and assembled them. That was followed by a construction zone in my library and enough puttying and painting to last me a lifetime. And I haven’t even mentioned the book removal and subsequent reloading and organizing processes (yes, I had to redo my frighteningly meticulously spreadsheet).
♡ It was such a fun, rewarding adventure, and I’m grateful to have my literal dream library! Shout out to my husband, the real MVP, who enthusiastically supported my vision and made it come to life.

♡ PSA: lots of videos out there make DIY built-ins look quick and easy. That may be true for some, but as people that work 9-5 M-F, for us, it was a long, tedious process. While no singular step was incredibly difficult, it wasn’t easy breezy either. Especially if you, like us, don’t have woodworking tools. We ended up hiring a contractor to level and mount the shelves to the wall and install trim. That was totally worth it for us. I have no regrets, and I highly recommend doing this type of project, but I think it’s important to be transparent about the fact that it’s not a simple DIY unless you’re well-equipped and relatively experienced.

BMBefore I joined bookstagram I had a very small collection of books. I definitely would not buy a new book if I hadn’t read the ones I already had. Then I found this little corner of the internet and discovered so many new books and authors and my little collection turned into a library. And guess what? I’m not even a little bit sorry 😂😂

SPLibrary refresh! Did a huge unhaul, rearranged my books, finally put my book tower stand to full use and used them for my Stephen king hodders unfortunately they didn’t all fit but still looks cool!
