And in Peppa Pig, remember how Daddy Pig sometimes ignores what’s said unless it’s loud? What if George wasn’t just shy and soft spoken… what if Daddy Pig had partial hearing loss in one ear? The exaggerated reactions. The misunderstandings. The way conversations sometimes feel slightly off.
As kids, we saw bright colors and simple jokes.
As adults, we see something else.
Maybe these shows weren’t just cartoons. Maybe they were gentle introductions to disability, illness, and imperfection — wrapped in laughter so we wouldn’t be afraid.
And we never noticed.
