My PMDD flares up usually on cycle day 21 so here are some tried and tested ways to avoid it. In the last year I’ve had 4 cycles with no PMDD - everyone is different so please take what you need and leave what you don’t 🙏🏼💕 Increase balanced carbohydrates to stabilise blood sugar → Steady glucose levels support serotonin production and prevent mood crashes in the late luteal phase. Increase magnesium intake → Magnesium calms the nervous system, supports GABA signalling, and helps buffer stress and irritability during hormonal shifts. Take 5-HTP in the evening → 5-HTP supports serotonin production, which can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and promote better sleep. Have GABA within reach (only take during a flare) → GABA can quickly calm the nervous system and reduce acute anxiety or emotional overwhelm. Homeopathy take Sepia → Sepia is traditionally used in homeopathy for hormonal mood changes, irritability, and emotional withdrawal linked to the menstrual cycle. Prioritise long undisturbed sleeps → Deep sleep stabilises cortisol and neurotransmitters, improving resilience to hormonal fluctuations. Prioritise protein and whole foods → Protein and nutrient dense foods provide amino acids and minerals needed for hormone balance and brain chemistry. Reduce stress and overstimulation where possible → Lower nervous system load helps prevent emotional spikes when hormones fluctuate. #pmdd #pmddawareness #pmddtips #pmddhelp #lutealphase

I try to stay as positive as I can but going through this every month is so exhausting ☹️It sets me back every time, I can’t be active as I’d like, or be as present with friends & family, my dreams/goals go on the back burner but I just go into survival mode for a third of every month. PMDD is under researched, underfunded & not spoken about enough!! so if me being vulnerable online can help someone, it’s worth it!💖 Around 1 in 10 women will be affected by PMDD - If you have PMDD I see you, I understand you & I hope you find the strength to keep going and remember, this is only temporary the light comes back ✨🫶🏻 #pmdd #pmddawareness #contentcreator #fyp #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #chroniccondition #lutealphase

This is the reality for so many women. The lows feel unbearable and the cycle impossible to control. For many 1 week is all they get - 1 week of feeling like themselves. No woman should get just 1 week. That’s why at Evelyn we work hard to spread as much awareness as we can. Help people understand, offer free resources, spread the word as much as we can because change has to happen. We refuse to sit back and watch women get dismissed , told “it’s all in their head” and left with one good week a month. #pmdd #pmddsymptoms #pmddawareness #womenshealth #menstrualcyclecare #menstrualcycle #femalehealth #lutealphase

I have PMDD, so of course I.. - feel a huge dip in my mood as soon as i hit my luteal phase (before my period) - struggle with the symptoms for 10-14 days - feel hopeless one day and then as soon as my period comes, back to normal - can struggle with thoughts of 💀even though thats not what i want or feel like throughout the rest of the month - struggle to sleep and regulate my mood and reactions - feel everything so much more intensely. If you can relate, it may be worth looking into. Its also important to note that 46% or more of women with ADHD will also experience PMDD, and over 90% of autistic women will - this is so scary! 😓 #pmdd #pmddawareness #adhdinwomen #premenstrauldysphoricdisorder #audhdwomen

Hey, so a lot of people already know from my IG and FB that I used to have mad hormone issues (I kinda self-diagnosed myself with PMDD). I was on the contraceptive patch to help for about 2 years, and it helped with the PMDD symptoms— they where non existent But a few months ago, I started feeling really poorly, with weird symptoms that no doctor or test could figure out. We wondered if it was the patch – even though I’d been on it for ages, I guess I might’ve reacted to the hormones. So, my doctor told me to stop it last month, and yeah, my symptoms cleared up. But then, last week, I started noticing my mood, thoughts, and feelings changing, and I knew I was on my first hormone cycle since stopping. Wednesday this week was the worst — I’ve honestly never felt so low in my life. I’m struggling a lot; I can’t even put into words some of the things I’m thinking. Just getting out of bed has been tough, but I’m trying. I managed to get up Thursday morning and train my clients and do my bootcamp, but I was back in bed by the afternoon. Took last night off everything, but the thoughts and feelings are still here, like massive waves crashing over me every time I wake up. My training, my classes and PTs are what keep me going, but honestly, these crazy hormones are messing everything up. The things I usually love and that make me happy are now making my anxiety and mood worse. Yesterday, I went to the doctor, and they officially diagnosed me with PMDD — I kinda knew already, but this was next level. She’s not gonna give me the hormone contraceptive now because of how my body reacted recently to the Evra patch. Instead, she gave me fluoxetine, told me to take it for a month, then just two weeks before my period each month. But honestly, I’m hesitant to start because I’ve been watching videos and reading people’s experiences, and now I’m super anxious about the side effects. I got the tablets yesterday, and I just keep staring at them, feeling worse all the time. Anyone have any experiences in fluoxetine! #fluoxetine #pmdd #pmddawareness #pmddstruggles #fluoxetinegang #pms #anxietyrelief #anxietysquad #anxietydisorder #pmddsupport #evra #evrapatch

The secret to feeling like you again isn’t pushing through, pretending you’re fine, or abandoning yourself every time PMDD shows up. But here’s what I think you may REALLY need to hear: 1️⃣ You may unconsciously feel safer staying in the pain of PMDD than doing the work to change it - and that is part of the healing journey. 2️⃣ Things you are currently doing or not doing are likely driving your symptoms to be worse, and you can change that. 3️⃣ PMDD episodes can be fueled by you abandoning yourself and avoiding creating safety around your feelings and experience. 4️⃣ You are likely telling yourself stories about yourself and your capabilities that are holding you back from healing. 5️⃣ Not everything is about PMDD, and pendulum swinging into over-identifying with the condition is a natural part of the diagnostic integration process. 6️⃣ It’s okay to ask for support. You’re not weak, you’re dealing with a condition that makes it harder to want to take action. & Remember, healing isn’t about becoming someone else; it’s about coming back to yourself. If you’re ready to start healing instead of dealing with hormonal moods, it’s time to start mapping your symptoms . 💬Drop MAP in the comments and we will send you our FREE kit. #menstrualhealth #hormonehealth #womenswellness #mentalhealthrecovery #periodproblems #pmdd #hormonalbalance #periodhealth #happyhormones #holistichealthcare #pmddawareness #cycletracking #functionalmedicinecoach #pmddsupport #pmsrelief #pmddwarrior #pmddpeeps #pmddcommunity #premenstrualdysphoricdisorder #pmddtreatment #pmddcoach #preiodhealth #hormoneeducation #integrativecoaching #pmddtreatment

For so long I shied away from sharing what it feels like to live with PMDD because, while I was pretty adamant I had it, I knew I wanted a diagnosis before I spoke about it online. Now I have that, I feel it’s only right to share the reality of what the 1-2 weeks before your period (the luteal phase) can feel like for some women. They say it’s like a severe form of PMS, I would say it’s feeling like two different versions of yourself every month. The worst part is these are only some of the symptoms women experience and there’s no easy, quick fix. Again this is based off my personal experience but I truly believe more awareness needs to be spread 🤍 If you feel this way, you’re only alone xxx #pmddawareness #mentalhealth #womenshealth #hormonehealth

Does it feel like a switch flips before your period? One minute, you’re calm and collected, and the next, you’re overwhelmed, irritable, or just not yourself. This is the PMDD personality shift—and it’s not just in your head. It can feel like someone else completely takes over your body and mind. During the luteal phase (the 2 weeks before your period), hormone changes such as estrogen and progesterone, can make some of us extra sensitive. For those with PMDD, even normal hormone fluctuations feel intense, triggering emotional highs and lows that can be hard to control. If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. And I think it’s important to explain how PMDD really feels for many women. 💛 #PMDD #pmddawareness #pmddsupport #pmddpeeps #premenstrualdysphoricdisorder #womensmentalhealth #womensmentalhealthawareness #menstrualcycle #femalehormones #womenshealth #periodproblems

TRUST 👏🏻 YOUR 👏🏻 GUT and push for support. You deserve to be listened to. PMDD is still something that we don’t really talk about, it’s just swept away with a “right, but everyone gets bad periods sometimes” or “so… PMS then?” but it can be SO debilitating. I’d reached a point where I had pretty much convinced myself I was making it up. I went to the GP for something completely unrelated and happened to mention to her that I had suspected I had PMDD and didn’t know if the hormones could contribute to my issue. She took me seriously, didn’t dismiss me at all and when I explained to her why I thought I had PMDD she immediately made a follow up appointment where she completed a diagnosis and started proper treatment. It’s been almost a year and the difference is huge. I still get some fluxes but nothing like before. Trust yourself, seek support and keep banging on the door. ❤️ #pmdd #pmddawareness #pmddsupport #pmddpeeps #pmddcommunity
