After discerning religious life in my high school years (I wrote my first letter to the Carmelite nuns when I was 14), I entered a Carmelite monastery when I was 19 years old. A year later, I discerned out, feeling called from the solitude of Carmel to some form of ministry. I am now married and have a little girl, but my love for the monastery remains a deep part of who I am, and my time in Carmel is a part of my story that I will forever be grateful for. I have made it my mission to bring the beauty of monastic life into my life as a married woman, and help others do the same. Follow my page to journey with me, and check out past posts in my series on how to bring monastic life into your life in the world! #catholicwoman #catholiclife #religiouslife #catholicwife #catholicmom

It was almost mine. I once thought I’d become a nun, but then I got married instead. Here’s why: In college I discerned joining the Sisters of Life—I was so attracted to their deep intimacy with Christ, joy in His love, and service of others. The vocations director encouraged me to finish getting my degree and graduate before revisiting, but shortly after graduation, my guy, best friend confessed his feelings for me and we went on a date the rest is history! While I eventually felt led by Jesus to date and marry the man who is now my wonderful husband rather than become a nun, I am so, so grateful for the time I spent discerning religious life. It wasn’t a mistake, it isn’t weird to want to be a nun, and no vocation is inherently better or holier than another! The holiest thing we can do is God’s unique will for our own unique souls, and truly, His will is better than our wildest dreams!! 🫶🏻

My name is Cyd-Kassandra ~’’• I am a devout Catholic, with an intrigue to Christianity’s mystic concepts and figures. However - as you can see I am a visibly alternative woman. And take great influence from the Indian subcontinent - having extensively studied Adi Shankara, Ramanuja, Mirabai and Lal Ded. The assumption that religious people must look or behave in a singular, restrained way is a sociological misconception rooted in narrow cultural norms rather than theology itself. Across history, religious life has expressed itself through excess, ornament, mysticism, dissent, and syncretism, often at the margins of respectability. To equate faith with demureness, fear, or conventional femininity is to mistake social control for devotion. Religious expression has always been plural, embodied, and shaped by context, personal study, and cross-cultural exchange. Visibility, eccentricity, and aesthetic intensity do not negate faith; they often signal a deep and active engagement with it. Studying other religious traditions has only deepened and clarified my own practice rather than diluting it. Engaging with the Academic study of Advaita Vedanta, Kashmir Shaivism, Vajrayana Buddhism, Bön, and Musok has expanded my understanding of ritual, embodiment, non-duality, and the sacred as something lived rather than merely believed. These traditions foreground repetition, mantra, and cosmology as experiential tools, allowing me to approach Christianity as a living, permeable tradition instead of a closed system. This comparative study has enriched my devotional life, sharpened my theological curiosity, and affirmed that faith can be intellectually rigorous, aesthetically expansive, and be (strictly experientially) spiritually plural without losing coherence. #DECOFOLK #aestheticsyncretism

Fr. Chad Ripperger pulls back the veil on a reality most people would rather ignore: the demonic realm is not symbolic, abstract, or medieval superstition. It is real, intelligent, and active. Drawing from actual exorcism cases, he explains how demons once entrusted with holy tasks turned their gifts toward destruction after their fall. One of the most striking revelations is the claim that certain demons were originally assigned to foster religious vocations — to encourage priests and religious life. After their rebellion, that same focus was twisted. Instead of promoting holiness, they now work relentlessly to derail vocations through distraction, worldliness, fear, and compromise. Fr. Ripperger also reflects on Lucifer’s original role and his fall, rooted in pride when confronted with the humility and interior beauty of Our Lady. This is why Mary is not just honored by the Church, but feared by demons. Her obedience and purity stand as a permanent rebuke to their rebellion. This isn’t meant to provoke fear — it’s meant to wake us up. Vocations are under attack because they matter. The spiritual battle is real, but so is God’s victory. Understanding the enemy only makes one thing clearer: grace, prayer, and fidelity are not optional. They are our defense. Follow @saintly_vibes for more!

“Journeying is a constant theme of the Christmas Story. The Holy Family made a journey to Bethlehem and arrived homeless without proper shelter. The Wise Men made a pilgrimage from the East to worship at the cradle of Christ; and the Shepherds journeyed from field to town in search of Jesus, the Saviour of the World. In each case, they journeyed with others; and relied on the companionship and kindness of others.” In this year’s Christmas Broadcast or ‘King’s Speech’, His Majesty reflects on the theme of the journey, in religious life and more broadly. You can now watch in full on: - The Royal Family Channel on YouTube (link in bio) - @BBCNews, @ITV and @Sky in the UK. - If you live outside the UK, check your national broadcaster’s schedule.

“Consecrated life is, not primarily about the work that religious do, but rather about the total consecration of one’s life to God.” In this 2012 @catholic_news_service interview with then-Father Robert Prevost, OSA, now Pope Leo XIV, reflects on consecrated life and the evangelical counsels as a distinctive witness of vowed religious life in the Church. In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II established the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, observed each year on February 2 with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas Day, when candles are blessed as a sign of Christ, the light of the world. In the same way, women and men in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of us can’t wait to fully walk into our vocations—religious life, priesthood, or marriage. However, the more reflections I do about what it truly means to be married and die to self everyday, the more I learn that it is a blessing to be single until God decides otherwise. . 1💞 Surrender There’s a peculiarity in holy singleness. You know God desires for you to experience true companionship, but somehow you start realizing that won’t happen until you surrender your will and desires to Him. 2.💞Self love and care It is a blessing to learn HOW to fully love yourself. I ask myself that as a woman who usually puts other ppls needs above mine ALL the time, would I have the capacity to take care of a family? Jesus really convicted me with self love a few years ago. If you don’t love yourself, how could you love your neighbor? 3. Prayer and spiritual intimacy 💞 I’m sorry to break to you but if you can’t fathom not being a wife, husband, or parent, God is still not number one in your life. I remember being at this crossroad two years ago. I had to face the fact that at the time, God was not enough. And I was honest to Him about that. Intimacy with Jesus is not just about consolations, it’s about exposing the deepest darkness realities of your soul to Him. What a blessing it is to learn how to dive in to that before your vocation? 4.Therapy and Healing 💞 I know many Catholics who don’t believe in the power of therapy. And my only question to you is how do you commune with the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit heals and cleanses our hearts everytime we truly come to Him.. that my friend is called healing. Sometimes we need an outside perspective. When you break your arm you are expected to go to the doctor. So why do we think when our hearts break, and when our minds and brains are disconnected from reality because of trauma, we don’t need a professional? There’s plenty of Catholic therapists out there waiting to serve God in helping His ppl heal. You walking around here like a ticking time bomb is not preparing you for marriage or the religious life. It is keeping you stagnant. 5Virtue💞 Are you chaste? Pure? Prudent? Charitable? Modest?
