While some somatic therapies are more technical or specific, like tapping, we can also dance or just move. Moving our bodies helps us break up stagnant energy and shift ourselves into a totally new realm of thinking and feeling. So: Shake it off! shaking meditation can help regulate the nervous system and calm the body when it’s overstimulated. Trauma and tension releasing exercises, like shaking, may be beneficial in managing and relieving stress. Shaking is a body practice that has been observed by animals in the wild and made its way to us, humans. This practice allows the body to release trapped energy that we were not able to discharge during a traumatic event. When we go through a dangerous event, we can either fight, flee, or freeze. If we fight or flee, we are much less likely to be left with the impact of trauma or PTSD than if we freeze. The freeze response is a smart survival mechanism in that it protects us from pain by numbing our entire body. When your muscles shake during Pilates, it’s not because you’re weak. it’s because your nervous system is learning while your body is being challenged in a new way. Pilates uses slow, controlled movements that require very precise communication between your brain and your muscles. As you start to fatigue, your brain recruits extra muscle fibers to help out, but they don’t fire in perfect harmony yet. That uncoordinated firing creates the shaking. This is called neural adaptation, your nervous system practicing and improving. Shaking also reflects neuroplasticity, meaning your brain is building and refining pathways that make movement smoother and more efficient. At the same time, your proprioception, your body’s ability to sense position and balance, is getting a serious workout. This is why Pilates feels so controlled and precise: your brain is constantly adjusting to keep you steady. What’s important to remember is that your nervous system adapts before your muscles physically change. So even if you don’t see muscle tone right away, your brain is already getting better at recruiting and coordinating your muscles. As that communication improves, the shaking naturally decreases, and you feel stronger, more stable, and more in control. This is exactly why I love combining Pilates with strength training. Using Pilates you gain strength faster because your nervous system learns to activate muscles more efficiently. You develop better control and safer movement patterns for any sport. Rien de révolutionnaire, car on sait que le mouvement permet de libérer les tensions et les blocages dans le corps et c’est vrai qu’en cas de petit coup de stress ou pic d’anxiété, je trouve que c’est un bon recours pour ne pas céder à la panique ! Cela permet d’activer le système nerveux parasympathique, qui signale au corps de se calmer. Ça stimule également le système lymphatique et la circulation sanguine, et bonus, active même le transit 😊 #shaking #anxiété #antistress

Ich hatte so einen fantastischen Morgen voller Leichtigkeit und Freude und dann ist etwas passiert, dass mein inneres Kind stark berührt hat. Ich habe mich ungerecht behandelt und absolut machtlos gefühlt. So viel Wut und Trauer die über mich kam und für mich war ganz klar: Ich muss dass jetzt in den Fluss bringen!! 🌊 Da war erst Widerstand, doch ich wusste, wenn ich es nicht mache, wird mich das meinen ganzen Tag kosten. Und so habe ich mir Musik eingeschaltet und all diesen Emotionen Raum gegeben durch mich durchzufließen. Ganz egal, wie es ausschaut.
