The storm slamming California has now flooded the Long Beach Blvd offramp on I-710 with up to three feet of standing water — shutting it down and stranding vehicles as rain continues to hammer the region.

SO🌧️ Southern California Christmas Week Storm – What You Need to Know
• A strong atmospheric river (a “Pineapple Express” storm) is forecast to hit SoCal starting Tuesday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and possible flash flooding. 
• Rain intensifies Tuesday night into Wednesday, with rainfall possibly totaling up to 10+ inches in some areas. 
• The National Weather Service has upgraded parts of SoCal to a high risk for excessive rainfall and flash flooding on Christmas Eve — a rare warning indicating dangerous conditions. 
• Areas most at risk include Burbank, Altadena, Glendale, San Bernardino, Santa Clarita and Thousand Oaks. 
• Evacuation warnings are already in place for communities near wildfire burn scars, where mudflows and debris flows are possible. 
• Closures planned: Caltrans will shut Topanga Canyon Blvd (SR-27) near the Palisades Fire work zone starting Tuesday due to storm risk. 
• Preparations now: Residents should prepare for heavy rain, flooding of low-lying areas, and potential travel disruptions through the holiday week.
