SHAccessibility Guidelines for OTT Platforms Announced

🔹 Key Initiative: Government issued Accessibility Guidelines for OTT platforms to make content inclusive for persons with hearing and visual impairment. 0
🔹 Objective: Ensure audio-visual content is accessible and inclusive across digital platforms. 1
🔹 Mandatory Features: All new OTT content must include at least one accessibility feature for both hearing and visually impaired users. 2
🔹 For Hearing Impaired: Closed Captioning, Open Captioning, or Indian Sign Language support. 3
🔹 For Visually Impaired: Audio Description feature for enhanced content understanding. 4
🔹 Implementation: To be carried out as per a prescribed phased schedule. 5
🔹 Policy Aim: Promote inclusive media ecosystem and digital accessibility. 6

DOGoogle has introduced a real-time translation feature for Google Meet video calls that lets people speaking different languages communicate live. It works by listening to what’s said, converting it instantly into another language using AI, and even speaking the translation aloud in a natural voice. Unlike traditional captions, this feature provides spoken translations, making conversations feel smoother. Currently, it supports a few languages like English, Spanish, French, and German, with more coming over time. While it’s a big step for cross-language communication, it’s still rolling out gradually, and accuracy can sometimes vary depending on the speaker or context.
