Most people hear “threads” and immediately think they’re the same as filler… but they’re completely different tools with completely different purposes. While filler focuses on adding shape or volume, threads focus more on support, structure, and encouraging the skin to look firmer over time. They work best when used intentionally for the right person - not as a replacement for anything else, but as part of a thoughtful approach to aging. That’s why I’ve been studying techniques, anatomy, and best practices with international educators here in Japan. The more I learn, the more I believe in customizing treatment based on someone’s unique features, goals, and facial dynamics - not using a one-size-fits-all approach. Thread troubles are the worst... 😭 1️⃣ Choose a small spool cap. Your thread should ONLY touch the sewing machine thread guides. 2️⃣ On a large spool of Aurifil the base flange is removable! You'll always find the beginning of your thread under it. When you sew, leave a bit of space between the thread and the base flange - so the flange does not interfere with the thread coming off the bottom of the spool! A flange that is too tight can stress the thread there, causing intermittent shredding and breakage. 3️⃣ Finally, a new needle is the best $1.25 investment you can make in your quilting. A Topstitch needle is my favorite. Have you tried one? 🧵 Drop a "more tips" comment if this was helpful. Need a specific question answered, let me know that too!
