Lounge access is taking a hit AGAIN 👇 • No more Qantas Club through Points Club Plus • Replaced with a limited number of single-use lounge passes (which don’t cover guests or children) • From July 1, those passes can’t be used on international Jetstar flights But it gets worse… They’ve also quietly changed gifted lounge passes — now the person you gift it to has to be on the SAME flight as you. So much for: – travelling with friends or family from different cities – doing something nice for someone before their trip That flexibility? Gone. And yes, the website says Jetstar flights booked under a QF ticket should still get lounge access… but if you can actually find one of those, let me know — because I couldn’t. A real example: We recently flew Jetstar from Auckland and, as Qantas Club members, we could still enjoy the lounge before the flight - Qantas Club automatically gives me a guest, my husband. That option? Not anymore. For those of us who’ve been loyal and earning points through everyday spending — groceries, bills, business expenses — this is a pretty disappointing shift. Less flexibility. Fewer perks. And a program that’s starting to feel a lot less rewarding. #qantas #frequentflyer #qantaspoints #travelaustralia #pointsandmiles

Ouch 😭 Qantas really hitting us poors where it hurts… Announced today that from 1 July 2026 there’ll be no more Qantas lounge access on Jetstar (JQ) international flights — even if you have Lounge Passes, Gold/Platinum status or a paid Qantas Club membership 😬 (Jetstar Max bundles & Platinum one status are the exceptions) And you also won’t be able to transfer Lounge Passes to someone UNLESS you’re on the exact same flight 🙃 Feels like a pretty clear downgrade to me… What do you think? 👇 #qantas #travel #points

Business class cheaper than economy? It sounds backwards, but sometimes that’s exactly how frequent flyer programs work. On this Sydney → Wellington flight, Qantas Frequent Flyer wanted about 20,700 points for economy or 43,600 points for business class when booking directly with Qantas Points. But airlines also release a limited number of classic reward seats to partner airlines. That means the exact same seat can sometimes be booked through other programs like American Airlines AAdvantage, British Airways Avios, Finnair Plus or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. Looking at the same flight through those programs: • American Airlines → ~25,000 miles in business • British Airways → ~24,500 Avios • Finnair → ~22,500 points • Alaska Airlines → 15,000 miles in business class That’s roughly one third of the points required by Qantas for the same business class seat, and even less than economy on the same flight — just by booking through a different program. There are a few caveats of course. Partner airlines usually only have access to the lowest reward seats, not dynamically priced ones, and different programs can have different surcharges and ways of earning points. But it shows why understanding multiple frequent flyer programs and airline partnerships can unlock far better redemptions.
