JUSo, so thrilled to finally share the cover of my PRIDE & PREJUDICE-inspired historical romance set in Joseon Dynasty Korea! I hope you love this bookstore-themed cover as much as I do 📚🫶
BEHIND FIVE WILLOWS is my love letter to readers, librarians, booksellers, publishing professionals... basically book lovers everywhere.
It’s also, as always, a love letter to Korean history. Specifically the reading culture of late 18th century Korea. you’ll see how books were made, curated, and even became bestsellers in the Joseon era. It's about book banning (it was a very complex ban, not limited to books itself but even the act of writing fiction, so more on that in the future!)
And of course, it’s also a love letter to Jane Austen, whose work first inspired me to start writing historical romance at the age of thirteen.
I kid you not, this story brought me SO much joy that I cried several times while writing it, and I can’t wait to pass that joy on to you 🫶
