This track dropped in June ’99 as part of Significant Other—their second studio album and a turning point for nü-metal going mainstream. “9 Teen 90 Nine” wasn’t a radio single, but it was a fan favorite for its off-kilter groove, cartoonish energy, and anti-normalcy attitude. It was peak Fred Durst: sarcastic, unfiltered, and out for chaos.
At Woodstock ’99, this track hit like a middle finger to the establishment—right before things spiraled. The band leaned into it. Fred egged the crowd on, Wes shredded barefoot, and 200,000 people basically lost their minds. The performance wasn’t clean—but it was unforgettable.

ROWoodstock ’99 was a music festival held in July 1999 at the former Griffiss Air Force Base in New York, intended to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Woodstock but instead becoming infamous for chaos and controversy. Marked by extreme heat, overpriced food and water, poor sanitation, and aggressive crowd behavior, the event escalated into riots, fires, and widespread property destruction on the final night. Performances by heavy and aggressive acts—most notably Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”—became symbols of the festival’s volatile atmosphere. Woodstock ’99 is now remembered less for peace and music and more as a cautionary tale about commercialization, crowd control failures, and the darker side of late-1990s festival culture.
