These 5 simple moves take only a few minutes and can make your run feel smoother and stronger: 1. Toe walks: strengthen the small muscles in your feet and ankles for better balance. 2. Heel walks: activate the front of your shins to help prevent shin splints. 3. Kick Backs: wake up your knees and quads so they can drive each stride. 4. Do you think you have proximal hamstring tendinopathy? Try this easy at home test! Use a chair or table that’s around 18 inches. Set yourself up so your knee and hip are at 90 degrees flexion. Then dig your heel down into the chair/table. Start light then gradually increase the pressure. If this reproduces pain around your sit bone then you likely have proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Especially if you have pain sitting and with hip hinge movements like deadlifts and deep lunges. To rehab this start with hamstring exercises that place your hip in a neutral position! Like eccentric hamstring curls, prone banded hamstring curls and glute bridges. And make sure you avoid icing/stretching the hamstring and prolonged sitting! #hamstring #hamstringworkout #sportsrehab #runningphysio #tendon

TRAIN YOUR HAMMIES Your hamstrings are one of the most important muscles when it comes to athletes in terms of injury, speed, flexibility and more. The hamstrings are directly involved in all aspects above. The hamstrings have 3 main muscles located on the back of the thigh and they are used in mostly everything, walking, running, jumping etc. The issue is that hamstrings are one of the main muscles notorious for injury, torn or strained hamstrings, this is especially evident in athletes during sprinting, running or in eccentric phases. This can be extremely painful and as someone who has done 4 times I know how it feels. Sudden stop, change of direction or deceleration is when these muscles are most likely to be injured. Unsolved hamstring issues can posses further problems down the line, weak hamstrings can affect knee health, it can make supporting muscles compensate for weak hamstrings causing more chance for injury, the list goes on.
