Did you know you can step directly into the realm of one of the world’s most famous Impressionists? Claude Monet’s home and garden was immortalized in oil in hundreds of his paintings, including several capturing a wooden bridge in his garden better known as 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦. The origin of the term Impressionism is credited to a critic’s disdain for Monet’s 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦, 1872. Monet continued to define this style, often using his home and the orchard he transformed into a floral paradise as a muse for his landscapes 🎨 Trade brushstrokes and canvas to view Monet’s home and gardens as he would have seen them while visiting where he lived and worked for 40 years on our Paris & Normandy itinerary. #ExploreUniworld

Dreaming of Paris ☀️ This sunny view of Paris was painted by Auguste Renoir in 1872. And it represents a pivotal moment in art history.   In the 19th century, a daring group of artists decided they were finished with the traditional rules of the art world. They called themselves impressionists. One of these bold innovators was Auguste Renoir. When he set out to paint the Pont Neuf, Paris’s oldest bridge, he secured the upper floor of a café overlooking the Seine to get the most dynamic view possible. To capture the ever-changing scene, Renoir asked his brother, Edmond, to head over to the bridge, chat with people, and slow them down just enough for Renoir to paint them. This inventive technique (freezing fleeting moments) made Renoir a standout in the art world. __   🖼 Auguste Renoir, 1872, “Pont Neuf, Paris,” oil on canvas, Ailsa Mellon Bruce Collection 🎥 Animation designed by @andrey.zakirzyanov (No, this is not AI ❤️) 📍 West Building, Main Floor, Gallery 89 #art #animation #paris #explorepage

Modern master of impressionism Erin Hanson follows in the footsteps of Monet and the first impressionists in capturing the beauty and movement of water lilies among water reflections. My best 3 secrets for painting magical, sparkling snow scenes like the impressionists! ✨ #sponsored 1️⃣ Use a play of warm and cool. Vibrant blues in the snow shadows dance against a warm background and a light peachy pink sky! The light portions of the snow reflect the peach hues. 2️⃣ No white! We often think of snow as being white, but in order to get that sparkle and avoid it looking flat, opt for light aquas, pinks, yellows, and blues instead. 3️⃣ Iridesence! Soft pastel is such an amazing medium made of dry crystals of pigment which truly give it a sparkle anyway, but adding actual sparkle with iridescent pastels just takes it to a whole other level! I used the Diane Townsend “Pearl Gems” set. It’s so pretty! All pastels and supplies are available at @blickartmaterials! Let me know if these tips are helpful!

Listen to Co-Curator Claire Durand-Ruel (@clairedurandruelsno), as she shares the final chapter of Camille Pissarro’s career. Although known as the painter of French rural life, Pissarro made more cityscapes than most of his fellow Impressionists, especially at the end of his career. In the last years of his life, Pissarro painted nearly 150 views of Paris, divided into four series. Each corresponds to a location where the artist stayed: Boulevard Montmartre, Place du Théâtre Français, Tuileries Gardens, and the Pont-Neuf. He alternated light and weather effects with different angles, using his windows’ high vantage point to capture the essence of modern urban life. Pissarro painted this scene from his new apartment on the Ile de la Cité, a natural island in the middle of the Seine River. From his northwest-facing window, the painter saw the Seine with the Louvre Museum in the background, depicted here with bystanders gazing at the palace-turned-museum. In The Louvre Under Snow, nearby, Pissarro transforms the same view with a wintry effect. Experience “Pissarro’s Impressionism” at the DAM before it closes on February 8! Tickets are only $5 on top of general admission and include an audio guide. Artwork 1: Camille Pissarro, “The Louvre, Morning, Sunlight (Second Series),” 1901. Oil paint on canvas; 29 x 36 1/2 in. couldn’t even give them 5 seconds 🤣 Britain’s Got Talent brings together performers from all walks of life and puts them in front of a panel of judges and a massive audience. You see everything from strong singers and polished dancers to unexpected acts like magicians, impressionists, and even stunt performers. One of the best parts is when somebody steps on stage looking unsure, then surprises everyone with a performance that instantly grabs everyone in the room. Over the years, the show has become a platform where everyday people can suddenly go viral and get real opportunities from just a single audition. The golden buzzer moments, emotional stories, and even the bizarre acts help give the show its personality. No matter who walks out, there’s always a chance someone could be the next breakout star. #reels #memes #funny

💐 Immerse yourself in the splendor of Vincent van Gogh’s swirling ‘Coin de jardin avec papillons’ painted in 1887.    Painted during Van Gogh’s formative stay in Paris, ‘Coin de jardin avec papillons’ marries the radical brushwork of the Impressionists with the distinctive precision of the Pointillists resulting in a luminous depiction of a flower bed on a summer’s day.    📍 ‘Coin de jardin avec papillons’ is on view at our Rockefeller Center galleries in New York now until 16 May.   20th Century Evening Sale | New York | 16 May   #2021NY #VincentvanGogh

‘In Antwerp I did not even know what the Impressionists were, now I have seen them and though not being one of the club, yet I have much admired certain Impressionist pictures’, said Van Gogh in a letter to a friend. Van Gogh was influenced by several of the Impressionists, including Pissarro. Houses at Auvers, painted by Van Gogh in 1890, is a clear nod to Pissarro, who was a mentor to many young artists of the next generation. The painting’s rural lane undulating past a thatched cottage towards a cluster of dwellings embedded in lush foliage – what Van Gogh called ‘houses in the greenery’ – is very similar to the subject captured in works by Pissarro, Cézanne and Gauguin of Auvers and the surrounding area.
