JAabsolutely absurd… here’s how to remove the Map feature on IG:
Instagram just rolled out a map feature that can update your location every time you open the app—even if you don’t post anything.
If you want to make sure your location isn’t being shared, here’s how to turn it off:
Method 1: Through DMs / Instagram Map
1 Open Instagram
2 Go to your Direct Messages (DMs)
3 Tap the map icon at the top of your inbox
4 Tap the settings gear icon (top right corner of the map)
5 Under “Who can see your location?”, select No one or a small, trusted group
6 Tap Done or Update to confirm
Method 2: Through Settings
1 Open Instagram
2 Tap the 3-line menu (≡) in the top right
3 Tap “Settings and activity”
4 Go to “Story, Live, and Location”
5 Tap “Location Sharing (Instagram Map)”
6 Select No one
7 Tap Done
Quick A Note:
Some users don’t appear to have this feature yet, so if you don’t see these settings, check again tomorrow. Meta is rolling it out gradually. And hopefully removing it soon…
