Doors opened recently to Philadelphia’s newest cultural attraction, an interactive and immersive journey through six floors of eccentricity called the Ministry of Awe (@moaphilly). The brainchild of local muralist Meg Saligman, the venue combines all kinds of art — painting, sculpture, music, digital technology, theater — with mysterious puzzles and mini games, all set in a renovated 19th-century bank. It’s open to all ages. “Philadelphians make art the way we all make fire, because you need it. We believe so thoroughly in bringing people out to gather, to congregate together, and to experience art. We believe this is a potent changemaker,” said Saligman. “If you’ve been to a museum, a theater, a haunted house, a dream, maybe, we are not quite any of those things.” Features columnist Stephanie Farr and arts and entertainment reporter Rosa Cartagena visited the Ministry and explored the quirky sculptures, surprising peepholes, stunning murals, and the occasionally disturbing delights. This Ministry of Awe is a six-story immersive art installation created by muralist Meg Saligman along with more than 100 Philadelphia artists. Instead of functioning like a traditional museum, the space is designed as a “bank of human experience.” Visitors explore rooms filled with: •Interactive art installations •Sculptures and murals •Soundscapes and digital art •Live performance and theatrical elements The project intentionally plays on the building’s history as a bank by asking visitors to rethink what society considers “valuable.” The venue occupies a restored 19th-century bank building at: 27 N. 3rd Street, Old City, Philadelphia. #moaphilly #museum #creative #Arts #video

Exclusive Preview ✨ America’s most unique new museum just grand opened in Philadelphia and here’s a first look inside @moaphilly Philadelphia just unlocked a new world of awe. And while we didn’t know what that meant before we arrived it became crystal clear the moment we set foot inside the giant wooden doors. Every floor, every exhibit, every room, every staircase, every door made you feel like stepping into another world. This place was literally designed to make you feel awe. From the absolutely breathtaking views from the center lobby, looking up towards the soaring artwork that reminded us of a cathedral, to the most unique basement and bathroom in the entire country, to the Heavens and constellations high above the streets of Old City, the more we wandered and got lost in the art the more we felt our mouths drop open in awe. For the curiosity seekers, they encourage you to find your own path, open secret doors and look for hidden messages in the immersive experiences throughout the building. For those looking for the story and secrets, there are guides, actors and performers throughout to help you on your journey. There’s elements that reminded us of a cross between Harry Potter and Gringotts Bank, meets interactive children’s museum for adults, meets haunted house, meets New Orleans graveyard, meets social experiment, meets elements of traditional art museum. It is whimsical, colorful, bold, clever, thought provoking and even at times morbid. But the real truth? There was a little something for everyone and it the entire space and building was itself a work of art that we even hesitate to sum up as a museum. From the moment you step inside you will find one of the most mesmerizing, unique and Instagrammble immersive experiences in the entire country. Thank you @megsaligmanstudio for bringing this amazing creation and vision to life in our city - and just in time for America 250 and Philly 250th. A former Bank in Old City is being transformed into a huge & beautiful art piece. Some murals were already done and really the art work was so impressive. At the event we also got to sample @drinkthepathfinder which is a hemp , non alcoholic spirit. Be sure to give them a try! Almost every Tuesday from 5:30–8:30pm, you can roll up your sleeves and get creative next door at the old Sugar Mom’s (225 Church Street). The space is filled with art supplies, in-progress projects, and new friends waiting to be made. You’ll help work on pieces that will become part of MOA when it opens. You can even tour the work-in-progress before it’s open to the public…and grab a paintbrush while you’re there! Co-creation nights are a great way to meet people, make art, and become part of something really special. Join me next time? Also coming up at MOA: 🪄 The Wake: Step Beyond the Veil- a show blending magic, mind reading, music, and dreamlike funeral themes to explore what happens in the moments after death. 📅 January 29–February 1 ⏰ 7–10pm
