She was never real. - - - For a month I planned to stage a relationship as a social experiment for how others (mainly friends) would react. Only to be met with what I didn’t expect. People would ask more about the ‘woman’ rather than myself. Running the experiment would test how humans would react between how’s my life vs what’s new. Hadn’t been asked much myself how I was personally, but learning others are more interested in the AI ‘girlfriend’ struck as a potential problem for this day and age. Only close friends/people would’ve known it was AI+edited. The problem comes about as “How much do we care about others? Or are we too interested in the spectacle of new technology?” It’s a question of empathy versus fascination, and the results of this experiment suggest we might be leaning towards the latter.
